jaguarkid140 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Well, NE may be considered more elitist than any other site, but it has gotten better for new players, especially with the advent of NE4. I am a fairly new member to that site, having been on there for little over two years and I've been treated with plenty of respect and I have lost it over acts of stupidity. I was never the best player at RCT2 and a lot of people criticized and looked down at me also due to my attitude on that site, but I matured a little more and was given a lot more respect in the process. Many people think NEdesigns is a very exclusive website and hate the fact that there are accolades. People need to remember that they don't need to get accolade (just play for fun), and a lot of parks and most designs don't get it. I have yet to get an accolade myself, but thanks to my determination and the good and helpful feedback of people at New Element, I have improved and hopefully will get it soon. There are plenty of new players at NE designs. The thing most people would dislike would be members acting arrogant, annoying, and rude. I don't have a major problem with anyone on that site and whenever I post a screen, I can get blunt criticism, but people there are kind and helpful. Personally, it doesn't matter your skill level (unless it is very low and you criticize another player's skill level). I think that NE isn't mainly elitist but most members are serious and frank. Unlike TPR, it is a mostly RCT site, so it is pretty much expected. Most people on NE are hardworking and improving players of varying style and skill. As long as you don't develop a reputation or have the wrong attitude, you'll have no problem. Most people on NE designs are tolerant as well as kind and will provide honest feedback. It is a great website and has recently became very liberal. I have yet to meet a haughty elitist in this great community of helpful and civil gamers.
Insanity Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 To put it short, TPR is like a highschool, with many subjects to choose from, NE is like a college, where there is only one major. was that accurate?
wild_roller Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I think the reason why some people don't like NEDesigns is simply because they don't want to hear about the bad things that exist in screens they post. When someone posts a screen on NEDesigns, instead of getting a strand of, "That looks great" replies, people tell you what you can do to make the screen far better. Sometimes, the feedback can be less than friendly, mostly when someone posts a screen that they haven't spent much time on. Personally I find the feedback from screens posted on NEDesigns to be much more helpful in improving the things I post. Edit - What I really wonder is if the people who don't like NEDesigns have ever actually tried posted there and becoming part of the community or if they just think they aren't "good" enough so they say they don't like the site.

You raise a valid point- Please read back through the entire thread as well- as there are some very interesting thoughts towards this point as well. I'm going to lock the thread on Monday- as I think I've read (and have received some very good feedback about this subject)- I appreciate everyone being serious about the ideas here, and that I've not had to edit anyone's posts! Why would you lock the thread when there's no trouble? As the answers I was looking for were given to me; I don't think (at least in my opinion) that any more discussion is really necessary. I was very happy to read from the admins and other members of the board, and I found out the answers I was seeking. That was the only real purpose of the thread: For people to provide me with some answers to some questions that have been floating around for a while- and I'm very happy people were able to respond in a mature fashion- and now that it's run it's course, I don't think it's necessary anymore. I hope this explains things out some- R.D.
