robbalvey Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 So I was thinking about a cool Facebook/Twitter contest. Basically, the idea is that we want to get people to post about their tracks on their Facebook/Twitter accounts to help spread the word about the TPR Game Exchange. What do you guys think about doing a contest or really more of just a promotion that is a "Post a link to the TPR Game Exchange and get points" kind of thing. For example, if someone posts a link to one of their GE tracks on Facebook or Twitter, and posts a screenshot of the link, they get 50 points added to their account. Any other ideas to get people to start spreading the word more and more?
QueerRudie Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I kind of like the idea of having a promotion like that- Post your track and a picture of it, plus the link- get 50 pts. I'm not too familiar with Twitter (Yes, I know, I'm the LAST person on earth not to have it) so I'm not quite sure how that works- But the facebook idea would work nicely, I think. How would we track how many people actually put it up, though? Is there a way of tracking that via TPR's Facebook page? I've seen the success of other contests TPR has done via Facebook- and those work quite well- so I'm trying to visualize the idea of crossing the exchange over-
QueerRudie Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Actually: Idea just came across me... How about we do a 'test' run tommorow or thursday: Post on FB "Upload a coaster to the exchange in the next XXX hours, and get 50 points bonus to your account. Make sure when you upload your file to the Exchange, you put "I saw this on Facebook" in order to get the bonus points." Or combine it with Twitter- same message, replace it with "Twitter" Easy to do, can be tracked quickly- and adjusted almost as fast-
robbalvey Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 I'm thinking something more simple. Like if someone posts an image that looks like this... They would get 50 points!
robbalvey Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 Like, another simple idea like this one would be the "banner in the signature" thing. If you tell people "add a TPR Game Exchange banner to your forum signature, and we'll give you 50 points..."
QueerRudie Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I like it- When can we run it? I.E. Should I post this right away?
robbalvey Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) I'm just here to drop off ideas. It's up to you guys to figure out how to make it all work! I'd also maybe encourage people to make their own banner! Maybe add bonus points (or even take away points) for creativity? Like... Add a TPR Game Exchange to your signature and get 50 points added to your Game Exchange account! Create a custom one and get.... +10 points for an awesome banner! +0 points for a crappy one! (Try again!) Edited April 6, 2011 by robbalvey
mcjaco Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I was thinking of the banner idea earlier. Track of the Week winners get added to a new Banner that will rotate through. We make "Track of the Week Winner" Banners, TPR Game Exchange Contest Winner, etc.
QueerRudie Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 K- I think I'll post the "Post us to Facebook" as you set up and see how she flies- Mind if I use your 'display' example?
QueerRudie Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 OK- it's up and ready: Matt, could we place it in 'Announcements' for the time being? Also: I think a FB plug for it would be a great tie-in too; who do I contact for that?
robbalvey Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 ^ Matt can coordinate that with Eric Wilson. (ernierocker)
mcjaco Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Moved to Announcements (You guys should be able to do that). Just open the Option Tab at the bottom of the post (where you can upload pictures). There's button for Sticky, Announcement, etc. You can even set how long you want to stay in that category! And Eric has been asked.
QueerRudie Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Thanks again Matt- And good to know I can move things into/out of announcements. Less work for you- and easier!
mcjaco Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 It took me awhile to find it when we switched to phpbb3. I don't mind doing it, but I never know how stupid my underlings at work will be, and my availability day to day. Better to give you guys all the tools you can!
