NEWS: runDisney prepares to announce new race

One of the best kept secrets floating around Disney is about a new runDisney race. Speculation on exactly what the race will be and where it will take place has gotten pretty crazy at times.

 

So we’re going to help you try to figure it out. Starting today, we are posting a series of clues on the runDisney Facebook page. The clues will be posted every few days leading up to the official announcement of the new event. Figure them out, put them together, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what kind of race we’re planning. The clues won’t be easy, so put on your thinking caps and start your detective work. And don’t worry, an entire runDisney community is there to help you solve the riddles!

Thanks for the heads up! I went to the site and those clues mean absolutely nothing to me, but I loved reading the comments and see what people thought they mean.

I have an ongoing love/hate relationship with RunDisney. They piss me off with their ever-inflating prices and ever-shrinking amenities, and yet I keep finding myself sucked back in for the medals.

 

I have all the WDW medals (halves and full, not all the 5Ks,) so I'll probably have to cough up another $140 (or more) for whatever this new race is going to be. *sigh*

 

And now, since my kids have voted to do Marathon weekend, again, over Key West or Houston, next January, I have to decide between running the full, or paying an extra $20 to run half of the full in the relay, for the new Chip and Dale medal. Why did it have to be Chip and Dale? I really have no interest in relays, but Chip and Dale!!!! Must have!!!!!!

If you’re one of the many runners who have been waiting anxiously to find out about a new race Disney is creating for 2012, I’m going to let you in on the secret a little early. Today at a news conference at Disneyland Resort, we are announcing our newest runDisney event – the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland Resort.

 

This new race weekend, which will debut Jan. 27-29, will be specifically geared toward women much like our popular Princess Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World and will feature a 5K, kids’ races and a health and fitness expo with merchandise, apparel and fitness tips from leading endurance experts – all tailored for women runners.

 

More than 10,000 runners are expected to sign up for the inaugural race following today’s announcement involving Elisabeth Hasselbeck, co-host of ABC’s “The View” and Megyn Price, star of the hit TV sitcom “Rules of Engagement.” Hasselbeck is talking about the race during a series of TV interviews and Price, who has already signed up to run the race, is attending the press conference today at Disneyland along with Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait and Disney California Adventure park Vice President Mary Niven.
