What are the square outlined boxes on both sides of the fron

I was just wondering if anyone knew what the square box shaped outline things on either side of the Revenge of the Mummys cars in USH are ?

If we're talking about what I think we are, they're part of a safety feature that was added after the ride opened once a stupid guest fell between the entrance gate and the car. Now when the gates open for boarding it opens flush against that metal part of the train car so that no one can go the wrong way.

Thanks for that explanation. I just think that it makes the cars look very modern and slightly strange but safety first!
