darienlakerules Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 (edited) My brother goes to collage in Niagara Falls NY and he moved into his dorm yesterday, so instead of sitting around bored in the dorms for couple of hours I decided to take a 4 hour solo trip to Martin's Fantasy Island. This being my first visit I knew only what I saw in TR from here so I didn't know what to expect. Overall it was pretty good. Short lines. The park was kinda ghetto though. No safety announcements, horribly hilarious shows (just from walking past them) no actual que, but it was still a very nice small park. Also ride ops and games workers were pretty awesome (Female one were beautifully hot) I most likely won't be back till any major additions are made, but it was a awesome afternoon. Near the Entrence If you ever get drunk and wake up with this on your hand, you were at Martin's This part of the park is really nice looking The recent rain has cause some puddles This area you can take out a canoe for free. Kinda cool. Almost to the big rides section... You can camp next door! Also some train track. Next to the slide now... For the Slide enthusiast Silver Comet! Michael Jackson the Ride, or should I say Starship 2000. HUGE surprise to me. Not going to ruin it, but wating from the outside I had no idea how epic it was. Also it plays Michael Jackson music non-stop. Inside Main Reason for my visit, Silver Comet. That's most of the ride, it's very compact. Nerd Shot Lift hill motor shed enthusiast rejoice They only have one train, but it's one colorful PTC train. I'm sure the TPR gays are planing the next meet-up to be here Going up... up... Some Coaster porn Some more coaster porn, also the ride is sponsored by Mountain Dew Large stat board Back to the Station This ride op kicked major ass! Jizz We need a lawn mower here Small crowds and awesome crew means one train waits all day, sometimes sitting on the train for over three rides. Silver Comet was pretty awesome, not as much airtime as I expected from some of the hills, but wasn't very rough. Only my third woodie ( you know what I mean) and a pretty good one. Still my favorite is Jack Rabbit at Sea Breeze, but this one still earns a thumbs up! STOP FEEDING PHIL I see star flyer... Martin's has their own space program This is my crack I Got It is a mix between bingo and Fascination. you threw one ball at a time onto a bingo grid and try to get 5 in a row. When you get 5 in a row you yell I GOT IT! and you win a coupon. If they have multiple winners you win free games. The coupons can be exchanged for wonderful crapped hand-picked by Martin himself. Pretty much all luck. I played like 10 games and didn't win once. You thought TPR had a lot of crap The "Bingo" grid An example of bad parenting, this adult(no idea is it was grandma, aunt, or parent) was trying to make a toddler play when she couldn't even reach the balls. She yelled at her when she couldn't reach them and make a big scene in the place. Lift-Hill Porn Back section of the park Blury picture of the Star Flyer. Was alright, not very tall. Maybe 100ft high. Also in the background the Crazy Mouse. The second coaster. Second wild mouse for me. One at Sea Breeze in Rochester, NY is WAY better. It does spin, the reports of zero spinning are lies. LIES I TELL YOU! Full tilt was more of a half tilt Full Tilt logo Log Flume logo, no pictures of the ride itself, but be warned, it looks small but packs a punch, a very watery punch view of the Silver Comet side of the mid-way (not the best use of this feature on my camera as it was my first time ever using it) So close to Canada you can see the S&S drop tower at Marineland from a lot of the rides (circled in red) Crazy Bus looked to Crazy so I skipped First Mega Disko for me, was pretty awesome. Liked of the seat were exactly the same as the Moto Coaster at Darien Lake And to leave you with some more of the awesome beauty of Martin's Edited August 28, 2010 by darienlakerules
Erik Johnson Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I thought it was a nice park. Silver Comet certainly is an under-rated coaster so I think more people need to get up there and ride it. We pretty much had a TPR take over of "I Got It" back in 2008.
Canobie Coaster Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Very cool TR. You seemed to have a similar experience to me when I visited Martin's Fantasy Island last month. Silver Comet was a really good ride as you described, but I too was hoping for a bit more air. I rememeber hearing that the ride heated up as the day went on, but unfortunately I couldn't stay until closing so I have no idea how much that the ride does in fact heat up. Overall, Silver Comet did make my personal top 10 for wooden coasters, and it reminded me so much of Funtown USA's Excalibur. Also, the Starship 2000 was really strong. I personally enjoy these Wisdom gravitron/starship rides more than the older Rotor rides. The cushioned pads are so much more comfortable than a rubbery wall that smells like puke. Also, did you have the op who continually yelled "Starship!" during the entire ride? I didn't expect to get soaked when I rode the flume, so I was totally caught off-guard. The ride just looked so innocent, but boy was it a soaker. Crazy Mouse also did spin for me, but compared to other spinning mice out there, this is one of the weakest in terms of spinning in my opinion. Disney's Primeval Whirl has far better spinning in my opinion. Lastly, as for the shows, I am assuming that you are talking about the Fantasy Island Theater where they had the really odd show that had Captain Skyhook and some princess. I wasn't watching the show, but I overheard the production while I was waiting for Flight. I hope to make it back to Martin's Fantasy Island someday, but I would only really visit if I were in the area since the park isn't overly large.
darienlakerules Posted August 28, 2010 Author Posted August 28, 2010 I heard the ride op that screams starship the whole time while in line for Silver Comet. I agree that while it was a nice park, only would return if I happen to be passing with nothing to do.
