Nexy Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) Hello everyone, basically I'm brand new to TPR, I discovered this website while looking for good workbenches, I had no idea that the RCT community was still rather active. I'm pretty new to RCT2 as well, RCT1 was my real favourite but I never got into RCT2 when it was released. However, I've recently reinstalled (yesterday) and fallen back in love with this game. So, Infinity Land was born, originally named after the Biffy Clyro album, I believe it's fitting for what this project is going to be. I'm using the Nirvana Gardens workbench and intending on filling the entire map, for anyone who doesn't know it's simply a huge flat space with buckets of money. I'm currently not using any custom content, mainly due to my lack of knowledge of it all, but the chances are we'll be seeing some involved eventually. So onwards with the screenshots, descriptions of each will be underneath, italics are temporary names; The entrance to the park is to the left here, with Crystal Airways (a monorail) bridging over the main entrance pathway. The main Crystal Airways station is in the top middle of the screeny. Two cinemas are located on each side of the entry path. The other large(ish) building you can see here is the Ayrton Senna Raceway, a go-kart track built in memorial to this incredible driver. This is Nitro, the first rollercoaster of the park. I forget the exact numbers, but I believe it was High intensity and Very High excitement ratings. It's named Nitro purely so I could use the Seven Flags sign on the front (: This is another view of the entrance, to the right is a rather ambitious jungle/mountain area. The "Base Camp" area is part of a cleveryly disguised warehouse, a monorail station is located inside. The Twilight Zone is a themed ghost train ride in the other half of the warehouse. The river you can see will run from a large lake at the top, and will run all the way down to the bottom with a large array of water and jungle themed rides. A sneak peak of the river as it differs from the man-made section below. This is pretty much unfinished. And the final piece of my first update, this is how much I've currently completed. I'm going to be working on the mountain/jungle area of the park next, so keep your eyes out (: I would love to hear critisism, whether it is good or bad. A lot still needs to be looked at, even in the seemingly complete sections, such as shops and scenery. Edited July 29, 2010 by mcjaco
Nexy Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 -Reserved for future updates (: Hope that's okay-
djbrcace1234 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 First off, Welcome to TPR! It is always nice to see new Rct2 players come because the number is low here. My only suggestion so far is prehaps putting some bank turns on Nitro? I feel if I was riding that, I would be squished to the outside, and I would prefer if I could reride such a nice coaster! It does sound like a big project, and I hope to see more, soon!
Nexy Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) Thankyou for the kind words and the welcome (: Yeah I definitely agree with you on the Nitro topic, coaster design was never my first forté so I'm definitely intending on tweaking it before working on anything else below it that would drastically change the space. dmaxsba2408 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 ... putting some bank turns on Nitro? That's the first thing about the coaster I noticed. I remember when RCT2 first came out and I always forgot to bank the sloped turns. It was never an option in RCT so I just never though about it when I would build a coaster. Going by your comments about being more of an old RCT player it totaly fits.
braztaz Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 This has AMAZING potential, and hat you have is....well amazing! Keep up the great work!
Nexy Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 Thanks for the feedback guys, glad everyone seems to like it so far (: Here's a small update, Nitro got demo'd and completely rebuilt; I've also been working on the jungle section quite heavily, layout is planned and finallised, depending on how long landscaping takes I'm hoping to get started with the rapids and log flume rides tonight! Test park opening on a different save to see peep flow told me to move a few things around slightly, and to build more damn toilets, I always forget about them =/
Reviar Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Wow, and I'm afraid of building "big". This just shows how much I've got to learn. Looks amazing to me. All of it. And here I am looking for a bench when I've had Nirvana Gardens forever. >.<
dmaxsba2408 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I am liking the look of the new Nitro, not often do I care for double lifts like what you have but in this situation and through good use of banked turns it looks really good. Can't quite tell what kind of twister you are using but if it is the standard sit down you might want to try using the Launched Lift Hill. It would be very cool to have it shoot quickly up the first hill into the curve and then shoot again up the second one but only enough to get it to crawl over the top. ...build more damn toilets...
Nexy Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Thankyou Reviar (: I am liking the look of the new Nitro, not often do I care for double lifts like what you have but in this situation and through good use of banked turns it looks really good. Great suggestion, but it's actually the floorless version, so unfortunately no launched hill this time ): I'll definitely do something similar deeper into the park though! Should have another small update tomorrow, I'm hoping to have the one side of the mountain complete if I find the time.
djbrcace1234 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Take your time, though. There is no need to rush. I rather see qaulity over quantity of updates, and so far, I like all I am seeing. Please keep at this one, Nexy, it's great.
Dotrobot Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 With a big map like that and that many rides in to that space ( not saying it looks bad, I love the way it looks ) I have a concern. Won't you go hit the object limit? As in you can't build more rides/stalls.
Nexy Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 It is a concern, but I'm hoping to have a fair amount of natural scenery to act as fillers, while I want to fill the entire map, I sincerely doubt I'll be able to fill it all in the same way that the currently completed areas are, but don't get me wrong, whether the limit will be a problem or not, I definitely intend on hitting it (:
djbrcace1234 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 ^ Then just utilize terrain more. Add plenty of hills, water, ummm, water, and yeah, water!
