sixflags2780 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 So, I've heard that the city of Erie is a little "sketchy". The hotel we are going to be staying at is the Hampton Inn Erie-South. So onto the questions! 1)If anybody has stayed at the Hampton Inn Erie-South can you give me a review on how the area of the hotel is? And the hotel itself? 2)Can I ride Ravine Flyer 3? Need my credits. I think that is pretty much it for now. Thanks for your help.
ParkTrips Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Calling Erie "sketchy" is a joke. All cities have good neighborhoods and bad ones, but compared to most places in the country, Erie isn't even "sketchy". Run down maybe but not unsafe As for Ravine Flyer III, the park index will help you answer your question http://www.themeparkreview.com/parks/photo.php?pageid=161&linkid=1644 (ie train full of adults = you should be good)
VGplay Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 As a Hilton, Hamptons tend to be pretty consistent. Tripadvisor seems to agree: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g52607-d102651-Reviews-Hampton_Inn_Erie_South-Erie_Pennsylvania.html . And I wouldn't call Erie "sketchy". It has some older and tired sections, but overall it is a very nice city. As for Ravine Flyer 3, just try. Honestly I'm not sure what the park's policy is. I rode it during a coaster event a while ago and the pictures in the Index are from a commercial shoot TPR did. But the staff is friendly and relaxed, so it may be worth asking even if the sign disagrees. Enjoy your visit! And be sure to stick around for some night rides on Ravine Flyer!
Guest Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Don't worry about Erie...especially the area you're in and the park! Very nice people and you shouldn't have any problems!!

Also, I was able to ride the Ravine Flyer 3 last year, so you shouldn't have a problem.
Reon Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I wouldn't say Erie is a shakey place so much as MAKE SURE YOU RESERVE YOUR ROOM IN ADVANCE! I made the mistake of just driving up there, and by thetime I got in the only place with any vacancies with a run down motel near the park....As for Ravine Flyer 3, I rode it. Then again I eternally look 16, so...
Hercules Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I just got back from Erie last night. Going with the consensus thus far, Erie is far from "sketchy". We are actually planning on moving up there within the next two years now. It is a little run down in some areas, but there are a lot of nice spots. A Hampton Inn is nothing to worry about for sure.
