Pure Impurity Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 My dad and I (obviously) were at Kennywood today, and we got to ride the Sky Rocket! (Also obvious.) So, anyway, the ride's very good; pretty intense, but not too much. A little word of warning to taller people (Casey): some rows are not suitable for people over 6' tall, and it's pretty hard to move your legs. But the main thing that stands out is how SMOOTH this thing is! I mean, it's almost "TOO smooth." Oh, yeah, and another thing: The park was VERY uncrowded. Even at the end of the day, Sky Rocket's line STILL didn't break an hour! So, yeah, on to some photos... On the way to the park, we saw this sign. Besides, who doesn't want a discount burial? ;D OMG! I see coaster track! NEW coaster track! "Where are we again?" Did I mention it's RIGHT at the front of the park? Hey, Dad, nice fanny pack... err.. bag! Why, thank you for welcoming us, sign! Sky Rocket train! W00t! Twists and turns, FTW! There was also a news crew! But we didn't stick around to see them film. Hello, brake run! Zero-G goodness! LAUNCH TRACK! Blurry hill, and dark clouds... yup. (OMG! UFO in upper-right corner!) I like this photo a lot. First (public) riders! Woo! Reaction. Jack Rabbit was next! See? Signature shot! The Racerface! Wait, is THIS where Cedar Point's afro fountain went? For the love of God! Don't let her out of there! Next: an old woodie that's still better than Mean Streak! Nerd shot! Damn! The Turtle makes me look terrible in pictures! I think the only thing that's "lost" is the "h" in "Pittsburgh's." Hmm... Maybe we should ride Phantom's Revenge. Random... yup. Nerd Shot 2: The Revenge. (No pun intended.) Purtyful! Purtyful! Purtyful! Rodent killing + spinning = least Elissa-friendly ride ever! SWING! Of course, no trip to an amusement park would be complete without some Dippin' Dots! We stopped by the Sky Rocket again for a back seat ride. Yes, I am a nerd. (And I still look terrible!) Scott shows-off the high-tech Velcro on the sides of the seats. Then we ended the day on the most boring ride ever, Garfield's nightmare! Thanks for reading!
spaceace12 Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Wait, is THIS where Cedar Point's afro fountain went? No, CP's went to Alabama Adventures.
deathbydinn Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I like the balloon on the Phantoms Fling. Thats suck a common thing to have in line for a ride.
Across_the_Universe Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I really can't wait to go there in August with the Marching Band and ride Sky Rocket. I went there back in May with my class and was disappointed when I found out it wouldn't be open yet. It'll be my first coaster with a launch, to tell you the truth (Yeah, I don't get to too many parks out of my area). Oh, and about the "Pittsburg's" from Lost Kennywood's "Lost H." There was a time when all "burgh"s in Pennsylvania lost their H's to be "modernized" according to the state, and all of them, save Pittsburgh, still don't have it, Greensburg, PA for example. It got it back because IIRC, it was the first "Burgh" and requested to get it back. The era that Lost Kennywood represents is the time when it was "Pittsburg." Did I sound demeaning? I didn't mean to, and I'm sorry if you did already know this!
Dailey Enterprizes Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 ^To elaborate further, the facade for the Lost Kennywood sign is based off of old "Pittsburg's" Luna Park's facade. It operated for only 4 years back in the early 1900s. I feel like Rick Sebak...
Pure Impurity Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 I feel like Rick Sebak... Who's Rick Sebak?
tatertot3710 Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I rode Garfield's Nightmare on Friday. That ride was so messed up. And there was a voice yelling "SIT DOWN!" over the speakers.
Dailey Enterprizes Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I feel like Rick Sebak... Who's Rick Sebak? Listen and learn.
Pure Impurity Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 ^Oh yeah. I've seen that program many times!
