I am heading to Indianapolis August 20 - 22 for a competition. As it seems that I will never get to go to Holiday World- they are closed weekends by that time- Indiana Beach on the other hand is open (not their water park).

Okay: So Indiana Beach is open 11am - 6pm on Thursday the 19th. Is that enough time for someone who has NEVER been there before? This actually works out sort of good as we are supposed to be in Indy that night between 8 and 10. If we aim at arriving arriving the day before and staying over somewhere- is there anything to do in the evening in the area after the park closes? We are two adult gay males (not together). Should we aim to get there Wednesday early enough to go on some stuff or is Thursday 11-6 enough time? The question burning on my head right now is what to do between 6pm and 11am- other than to sleep for 8 hours- that still leaves 9 hours.

You can do the entirety of IB in a few hours. You'll have a great time. Bring a camera as Indiana Beach is one of the the most photogenic amusement parks out there, and definitely bring your appetite for the good food. Also plan on playing a few rounds of fascination so plan a few extra dollars for it. You shouldn't have too much trouble doing everything, provided everything is open. Indiana Beach is quite a different park from Holiday World, and I always have a pretty good time there. There's something about the atmosphere that makes Indiana Beach one of my all-time favorite amusement parks. Enjoy and post a photo-TR if you can! Too few people make it out to this gem!

I still think they should add a coaster or other ride called Hoosier Daddy (say it out loud).

PS: I wanted to take a quick moment to apologize to anyone from TPR (i.e. Robb or Elyssa) that were affected by Spam when my primary email account got hacked!

Indiana Beach is currently my favorite park, so the more time there the better, so far as I am concerned. I don't think there's much night life, honestly. Keep in mind though, that even though the park's opening time might be listed at 11:00am, there's no gate charge and it's easy enough to go in early and just sort of wander around taking photos and whatnot. (I don't think this is frowned upon. I stayed at the on-site hotel that's in the park on my last visit and was wandering around the midways at least an hour before anything actually opened. Saw and spoke to plenty of management-type employees during that time, who all seemed fine with us being there. But I never actually asked. So, grain of salt.)

Outside of the park itself, there really isn't much going on in that area. All I ever seem to see when I go is a few gas stations, maybe a place to eat and a bunch of corn. Seriously though, you can do everything there in one day, probably twice. Just don't miss the taco stand next to Lost Coaster...good eats there!
