"Cool" stuff to do in and around New York

Hai guys, im going over to New York from Sweden in a month and will be staying there for 10 days (6-16 June), I was wondering if you could suggest some awesome place to visit.

 

Im thinking its such a big city and is there anything like Alien War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_War) or something there? I will of course be visiting a theme park and I think I have it nailed down to SF:Great Adventure, any tips on days when its not so crowded? Anything else to think about? Also there seem to be not that much discussion about the mentioned park, is it a nice place or just very ghetto?

If you don't mind a 6:00 closing, going to Great Adventure during the week in early June is one of the best times to go to the park. Lines will be minimal to non existant
