TheScooterGuy Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Not only Queensland has a lot of Waterslides, South Australia & a few others do have waterslides of course! Water World, a swimming centre near my suburb has a fast slide called the Gully Gusher! But now, as Water World is now closed for upgrades, the Gully Gusher is now demolished! The last time I saw the Gusher, it was in a pile of metal supports!
brilinjo Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I emailed the Council, and they have replied: "The gully gusher has already been removed as part of the early works package of our renovation. We will, however, be replacing it with a new slide tower that has three new slides coming from it."
TheScooterGuy Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 The trucks & work cabins are on site, a part of the entry foyer has been demolished. I think they are also upgrading the toddlers pool, as well as the changerooms. The upgrade must be done before the Summer comes! This images below show the centre when it's open & closed:
piers Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 These Google images are getting everywhere! I am sorry to hear your slide has gone.
TheScooterGuy Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 Here's another e-mail received: Ryan, thanks for your enquiry regarding the Waterworld Upgrade. The planned improvements include the following: 1. New 12 metre high tower with 3 slides ( 2 straight fast slides and 1 slow curved slide). 2. New children's splash ground with 11 water elements 3. Upgrading of all existing pools including a new water filtration system, & plant rooms 4. New disabilty ramp into the 50m pool 5. Refurbishment of changerooms 6. New entry/kiosk/admin & function rooms. The project is currently on track to enable the summer pool season to commence in November 2010. Regards Mike Burke Project Manager
raptor6 Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 That stinks that one of your favorite waterslides is gone. But at least the replacements sound like a fair trade off. If you don't mind me asking, why doesn't southern Australia have more amusement parks? Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and Adelaide all look like they could support a large park (well maybe not Canberra) and yet all the large parks are near Brisbane/Gold Coast. Is the weather not good in those areas or what?
TheScooterGuy Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Beautiful landscape! Gully Gusher GONE FOREVER! Another related thread: http://www.sensational-adelaide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2951
