michaelwmoss Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Robb: There has been talk of a Major Roller Coaster at Paramount's Kings Island getting the ake for next season. Have you any insight or idea what this attraction might be and why it is being removed? Any news on what PKI may do for 2006, 2007?
disneygurlz2s Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 There was a thread about this a while back... still purely speculation, and my hubby works at the park on weekends and hasn't heard anything. I had guessed that if there WERE any truth to it, it would possibly be Top Gun, because of it's location and the big indoor waterpark going in where the campground was. Others think it could be Vortex, just because of it's age and rough ride, although it's still a pretty popular coaster. Near I as know, there are no major plans for new attractions for 06. The big announcement was the return of Winterfest, and generally, any new rides are announced before the start of season pass sales, which have already begun. There was rumor last year that Hanna Barbara would be completely fazed out and that it would become a completely Nickelodeon area, ala Carowinds, and that the antique autos would be somehow added to the area (they were removed for the Italian Job). I would think that it would be a possibility that they would remove the Nickelodeon "slime zone" (water play area) and the "slime bowl" (where there used to be shows but now is just used for character greeting) and put the turnpike in there, which would be total irony since that is where the old Marathon Turnpike stood in the 70's and 80's. michaelwmoss Posted August 11, 2005 Author Posted August 11, 2005 Good deal. My choice would be The Vortex. It is time for something new there and it would go along very well with the newest addition of The Italian Job right next to that area. Top Gun is a good coaster but it has went past it's time as well. PKI might consider closing it as well for something new. You could put a heck of a Floorless Coaster in that spot!!
SonOfBeastSucks Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 REMOVE SON OF BEAST! Nobody rides that worthless POS anymore! It takes up a lot of space, so thay could fit anything there! Top Gun certainly gets my vote to stay and allthough I don't mind Vortex, if they want to remove it and add a B&M looper, by all means, go ahead. On the subject, put some damn trees in the Action Zone! The rest of the park is nice but the Paramount addition of AZ is horrible with only TG, DZ and of course Delerium being the good rides.

They definately need to put some shade in the AZ. That is also a good thought on putting any kind of B&M Looper (ANY B&M FOR THAT MATTER) there. They need a B&M at PKI and they have needed to for a very long time. It would be good for the park and the park has the "atmosphere" for one for that matter.
DejaVu The Ride Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I think I heard somewhere about Top Gun being a goner, but I really don't have too strong of proof to back that up. It's just kind of strange that it was brought up at one time or another.
