But if its a big group, then yeah I throw a fit
ianf71
I have got so many pictures from Orlando and they are all captioned I should do one of these one day! Anyway, to queue jumpers. When we went to US on 7th January, the only two rides with any sort of wait were HRRR and the Simpsons. HRRR had a 160 minute wait and Simpsons had 20 minute. We did everything except HRRR, then went to IOA, returning to US at 5pm to ride HRRR. There was a 100m queue even then but we were leaving the next day so got in the queue. After 60 minutes or so my friend REALLY needed to pee so slipped out of the queue in the last section before the steps (there's a handy gap there) We told him to make sure he told the guy marshalling the start of the queue that he would be back. So we are at the bottom of the steps when he finally gets back and the people behind us start being really aggressive and saying he was cutting in - it was a group of about 12 people, all sort of early 20's I'd guess. I pointed out that they had stood behind him for an hour in the queue and actually moved out of the way to let him get out to the bathroom so how was he cutting in. They got really abusive and called us, and I quote, 'F****** British scum' amongst other less flattering names. To be fair, other people in the queue around us were telling them to cool it as he wasn't cutting in. Then we started up the steps. So I waited till we got to the turn in the stairs then pointed at the biggest one and told him when he got off the ride I would be waiting and was going to knock all of his teeth out and if any of his friends or bitches wanted to get involved I would do the same to them. And then the couple in front of us turned around and said they would help! And to my astonishment every single one of them looked totally shocked. They muttered to each other, then went back down the stairs! I dunno if they left the queue entirely or just moved back a bit, but everyone around us started laughing at them cos they had been in line over an hour same as us. The guy at the top of the stairs marshalling the line must have wondered what we were all laughing at. Anyway, I wandered there a bit....... Please tell me you don't consider that situation as cutting line! (Oh, and I wouldn't have done it, but I was a bouncer to pay my way through Law School and that part of me likes to stretch his legs every now and then, and intimidation is a wonderful thing)
larrygator
^Sorry, but that is line cutting. Anyone who leaves a queue for any reason needs to start queueing all over again.
Philrad71
IOA update: Part 2 Back with another smattering of pictures from our trip to IOA. This one's going to mainly focus on the water rides at the park. Who's all up for getting wet? Let's open this update right! If draft Heinie won't get you wet, I don't know what will? Wild cat waiting for the WWOHP to open. She would come from the castle looking for pizza and beer and then jump back into the brush. I'm sure she's a Hippogrif or some other magical creature of wizardry... I knew we did this right by entering into Dr. Seuss' Landing in the morning. All of the Brazilian tourists are headed in the opposite direction! Wow...what a great ride! I understand it is now closed and getting some rehab. Glad we got to ride it! The Philadelphia Flyers looked interesting and I almost tried to whore myself, but just couldn't! Great theming throughout the park? You bet Jurassic! Goon Latoon! Goon Latoon! Alien pods w/random painted flatscreen TV...or it could be a glamour mirror to see just how soaked you get on this ride! It was about 65 degrees out, but I just had to do this flume! The plunge itself didn't look all that intimidating... But Holy Friggin' crap did we get absolutely drenched on this! I was glad that Dad did not want to ride, so my camera didn't get ruined. Believe me, there are lot's of "little" surprises that get you wet on this ride that you might not see from the viewing areas. Best log ride I have ever been on - hands down. I can only hope that STR will be this good! Being that we were already soaked, we headed for Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges. Well, if this is like any of the other hundred rapids rides I have been on, none of the waterfalls or special effects will be on. No way we'll get as wet as we did on Dudley Do-Right, right??? Ehhhhhh....we fail! ALL water effects were well... in effect! I was laughing at the people that were on the left side of the raft when we saw this coming up, thinking they were going to get the majority of the soaking. Then I got served with a water cannon right to the face! I haven't been this wet since the first time I rode El Toro! Thx for reading! Final Florida update coming soon! the ghost
He's not kidding, riding these are like going to the pool. We had express passes, so we went on everything, and my friend hates water rides, so me being the great friend I am demanded he go on the toon lagoon rides. Lets just say that I am surprised the lady wearing all white next to us did not get thrown out of the park for public indecency, cause her shirt was then see through. YAY see through shirts on hot people. Also Popeye is the only flume in the world that's a little better than splash mountain. Philrad, were you at all surprised with the coaster like drop, like on splash mountain? That part under the train. I expected the drop but did not know it would also take us back uphill. I hope I didn't offend people cause I yelled OH S*** on that part.
Philrad71
^ Unfortunately, Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom was closed for refurb the day we were there...that and the fact that it was only about 40 degrees the day we visited, we probably wouldn't have ridden it anyway! Luckily, the day we visited IOA, it was at least like 65-70 so the water rides were do-able. I was thinking that I heard (or read) that Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges had been closed the previous week because of the cold weather and had just re-opened days before we went. Philrad71
This will be my last installment of our January Floridian adventure. Thanks to all of you that have posted comments as well as those that have enjoyed viewing our little adventure! Theme park season is right around the corner in our neck of the woods (well, two months anyway), so I am gettin' all excited thinking about what parks we'll visit...with hopes of visiting new parks as well as some in the mid-west! For St. Patrick's Day, I'll open this report with some green love - Incredible Hulk & Heineken! Enjoy! The Hulkster and the Brucemeister!!! I REALLY wants me some of those purple pants! Mmmmmm...I like to see signs like this! Yep, they're real....and they're fantastic! I liked the coaster, but it seemed like this was a bit of an ouch element. You know the one where you're having a great time on a coaster and then get b*tch-slapped into the restraint when you're least expecting it? Yeah, it was one of THOSE elements! This coaster has a sklooosh effect similar to another Florida coaster shown in this report. Or is it called a splooge effect? I forget! Most unique opening element on a coaster I have ever experienced. I like unique elements as long as they don't b*tch slap me into submission! Random flat ride tucked into a cozy lil' nook. Hulk was trapped in his car and he really wanted to have my Heinie! Yes, he is... Dr. Doom wasn't all that tall, but we got some crazy ejector/floaty air at the top. This one caught me by surprise - I really liked it even though I'm not that big of a tower fan. Wolverine. Yep that would be Wolverine from the XXX-Men. So true, so true! Dad was a little timid around Betty Boop, but had to have his picture with her seeing how that is the name of his cat! See? Betty Boop The Cat! She rox hard and rides free....in the motor home, that is. We headed back over for a couple more rides on DD. This was our train for our front row ride on Fire. Next time I see you two, you'll be under a new alias, but you'll still be Dueling Dragons in my heart. Oh, okay....just one more duel! Oh, it lives baby! Goodbye Universal Orlando...as much as we would have liked to have eaten dinner at one of your commercialized over-priced restaurants, we really wanted to save the best for last... Carrabbas! Thanks for putting up with me and Happy St. Patrick's Day! Must go eat green wings and consume green beer now!
tiger01
thank you for all the pictures you have collected i think they are great. It's nice to see a different view of the lake once in a while except from a big green monster machine! 5th pic. I hope you enjoyed your time there
ianf71
^Sorry, but that is line cutting. Anyone who leaves a queue for any reason needs to start queueing all over again. Then we'll agree to disagree - as the other people in line seemed to as well. There was a steady stream of people leaving the line to go to the bathroom simply because the line was so long - I'm thinking that will be a lot worse during the summer when people are drinking a lot more water and so need to go a lot more - but for some reason this group seemed to want to pick on us - (i was discussing this again at the weekend and the female of our party said that at one point the girls in their group actually climbed out through the bars and came back 10 minutes later - I was just eyes forward in anticipation for 90% of the line If people needing to pee will cause trouble they need to either cut the wait times by opening an express line or have some sort of bathroom near the end of the line (100 mins is a long time to stand, especially if you realise you need the bathroom after 15 minutes.) And as I said, it seemed to be going on right through the line so I'm sure US are aware of this. Anyway, great pics - the water rides have been off the card my last two visits (closed in Jan 2009, WAY too cold Jan this year) but just booked my flights for August and have three and a half weeks to make sure I do everything! And I might give a photo report a go while I'm there!
