selfyselfy Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Took a trip to Chessington today so me and my girlfriend could take her nephew and while riding Vampire with the new(ish) Vekoma trains I thought about the horrible restraints on the SLC's id ridden and I wondered why Vekoma hasnt put a better restraint on newer SLC's. On my recent US trip I rode several SLC's and these all had the bulkier restraints. The newest one ive ridden is Tizona at Terra Mitica in Spain and this had them also. I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on why they dont change them since they can obviously build less restrictive ones as on the Vampire and the Junior SLC's. My guess would be that either they need to be restrictive as Vekoma know the rides and gonna beat you to sh** or that they just dont want to spend the ££$$ to redesign the trains. Anyway onto my day. Got to the park before opening and parked in the grass car park that has its entry right by Dragons Fury (Great!!) Unfortunately it wasnt open straight away so we took my girlfriends nephew into Beanoland for a quick bumper car ride and when we got back there was a que. Did the single rider que since her nephew was just too short to ride (he was nervous anyway). Had a good first ride but had a better one later. Still a great little family ride though, I really like these Maurer Sonne (sp?) spinners. Anyway the rest of the day was spent doing all the kids and adult attractions and the coasters were all pretty much good fun. The powered Mine Train was good fun and better than the one at alton I think. Rattlesnake, the wild mouse was really fun and better than any mice i rode in the states. It seemed to have more good sized drops with little braking. Vampire was much better than I remembered from last year. Not intense or anything just a really good, fun, family ride. Back to Dragons Fury and my second ride was really great as a good distribution of weight led to it spinning crazily all the way round. Rode it a third time before leaving. Gotta love single rider q's. Having been to Chessington twice now since they turned all 'family orientated' I think it was a great idea as the park had a great atmosphere now and the child goes free with full paying adult was a really good move by Tussauds. Anyway a fun day was had and if anybody has any thoughts on the vekoma restraint thing that would be cool (Stupid SLC restraints annoy me, as if they arnt bad enough already) Heres a (very few) photos
Jeezus Juice Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 I was just out there and I really liked Vampire. Can you imagine Big Bad Wolf with those trains!? Dragons Fury is the best of the Maurer spinners I've done (4) and I really liked how they used the terrain. I had way more fun at Chessington than I did at Thorpe. Collossus and Inferno were really good though. Don "Yay Tussades" Garrison
