notlmpresed
Hi folks, I thought those of you who are visitors of Trimper’s Amusements in Ocean City, Maryland might be interested in a compilation of information regarding Ocean Playland Park and its Bill Tracy dark ride, Ghost Ship. The park, which closed in 1981, was located on 65th street bayside in town. You can view the article here: http://ghostship.ochh.net. Also on this site is a ton of historical information about Trimper’s Haunted House http://www.ochh.net, built in 1964 (previously thought to have been built in 1962 until the original ride proposals and blueprints were found) by dark ride builder, Bill Tracy, as well as Pirates Cove funhouse, also built by Tracy in 1971. And, if you are a total Bill Tracy/dark ride lover, don’t forget to visit The Bill Tracy Project to learn about the builder of these masterpieces. http://billtracy.net

JEAPUgrad
That's really awesome. My family owns a house in OC MD and I spent many summers going to 65th street's Slide and Ride complex. I had no idea a defunct amusement park once stood on that site. Thanks for the pics!
mrhambone
Wow - This brings back some great memories - spent countless summers in Ocean City as a kid, went here quite a few times. Just to clarify - the park was behind the water park where the public works buildings now stand. What was really unique about the place was the sky ride turn-around was in the bay. As a little kid this was the most thrilling ride in the place! If you look at a satellite image of the site, you can still see the original pier just offshore. Thank you for sharing!
