KDFAN Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Day 1 Headed to Dulles airport and got on a Jet Blue flight to FL, only 26 people on a plane for 136! Bit of turbulence but a great flight, arrived in Orlando and headed to the Villa we own (PM if intrested in renting). After that headed to Chillies for dinner. Day 2 Didn't really do anything, headed down to Old Town and that was about it. Day 3 Headed to Universal Orlando, it was so quite that we managed to both parks completly in one day. Managed to get on HRRR front row in nunder 60 mins, it's a great ride, really worth all the wait. I found it to be fairly smooth. They still aren't using the moving walkways to load, I did find when you came back in the station and the lapbars suddenly tighting, ugh that wasnt comfy. Ofther than that no waits at all, and boy did I forget that Universal really is bad with their queues taking longer to walk through when empty than the ride. Day 4 Headed to SeaWorld today and had a great time, I really enjoyed Manta and must say that if they replace BBW with a ride like Manta it will certainly help heel the disfaction I have with the park. Kraken and Journey to Atlantis were also both great rides, the whole park was spotless not a piece of trash anywhere. I felt a bit ripped of having to pay for the Skytower. Went to watch the fireworks from the Atlantis Bayside Stadium and I must compliment AB on a great fireworks show. Day 5 Took it easy on this day, I went to Bonanza Golf in the morning and got an on par game. In the evening I headed back to Old Town and went on the Windstorm rollercoaster It was a great ride and packed a big punch in a very small layout. I also rode the Slignshot, the initial punch of the liftoff was amazing, I think it went about 300 feet in the air, I also got a free T-Shirt. A great upcharge attraction. Day 6 Today we went down to BGT, while I do prefer the virginian Busch Gardens I like this one a lot. Sheikra was great, I actually rank it higher than Griffion. Rode all the rides, Kumba which is by far by fav Beemer was my 50th coaster not bad for only rididing coaster for 3 years. Rode Montu which was slightly beeter than Alpenghist. The other rides were all random rides by various manufacturers. I found Scorpian to be very painful in the front row. I deff. reccomend if in Orlando you visit this park. Day 7 Today marked by first ever visit to a waterpark, and boy did I start with a bang. Went to Disney's Blizzard Beach, the themeing was incredible, having the chairlift was also a great idea. I rode Summit Plumet first thing in the morning and boy did you go down the 120ft fast. I actually found it a bit rough at the bottom, but it didn't batter cause of the drop. See image below. I also like the Slush Gusher with the almost airtime hills it would have to be my favorite water ride. I found the Proslide Mammoth a bit dull compared to KDs. Would reccomend this park to anyone. Going Down.... Day 8 Headed to Universal again another quite day. Read info for the other day if intrested. Day 9 Decided to take a late start today. Started out going to Bonanza golf and played the other course for $4. I got 2 whole in ones. Then went back to villa and planned the rest of the day. Decided to head out to Olive Garden yummy, near Seaworld. Then went to Seaworld paid are $12 to park with the park closing in 2hours, then headed in, got a ride on Manta and all other main rides. Then went to Sealions Tonight, this is much better than the daytime show. Then we headed over to Kraken and Manta and rode those again and managed to get to Shamu Rocks just in time, sitting in the seat closest to Bayside Stadium so to get a good seat for the fireworks another great day, and a great qay to end a holiday. Day 10 Drove to MCO airport and got on our Jetblue flight back to Dulles in DC. If anybody has any questions ask away. Also I highly reccomed the last week of Aug and first week of September very quite and a great time to go.
Capitalize Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 So Sea World has a later in the day admission? Interesting, since I normally only go there for the coasters thats something to look into. I agree with you on Sheikra, I definitely enjoy it more then Griffon.
gatorchomp83 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 SeaWorld's admission price is the same all day, every day. I believe he was talking about $12 to park, even though closing was within two hours. I think they stop charging for parking about 1.5hr or so before closing.
KDFAN Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 I was talking about parking, we had one of those buy one day get 13 days free tickets. Talk about a bargain, 14 days at BGTB and SW for less than one day at Magic Kingdom
RedSpecial Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 If you had to pick one water park - Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach which one would you go for and why? I love the wave at Typhoon Lagoon but unfortunately not had the chance to try out Blizzard Beach. Are the two parks around the same size? Would be interested in views on the two parks -thanks.
KDFAN Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 It really depends, I would say Blizzard Beach because it is larger and has better slides, I cant really comment on Typhoon Lagoon as I have not been there, but the deciding factor for me was deffinatly Summit Plumet.
