Coaster Cow
It's looking great! I think that scenery wise the mini golf definitely could use a lot of work, maybe even turning it into one of those crazy tacky Pirates mini golf places or something. That might be hard though, but very cool. Also, could you possibly upload your pics right to the site? It would be much easier to view that way. Keep up the awesome work! dmaxsba2408
Like I said before seeing you build this park makes me want to did all my rides out of the closet and put them together. I have the older version of the Mouse Coaster, do you think it is worth the money to invest in the newer version? Great use of model railroad buildings in the park, looking forward on how you paint and detail them to fit into a theme park.
rollercoasterbuff
you guys are awesome. I've got another update tonight. ONE last ride before i really get going on the Park's final details! I think that as far as the Wild Maus goes. Try out the older one then buy the newer one. OR, sell the old one and go for the newer one. I do think that investing in the new one is worth it. BTW... if you.. ya know... want to sponsor X-Cite International by donating any unwanted model rides you think the park could use... I think you should. haha. just me tho. haha Cyrus
dmaxsba2408
Just how big is this parks layout going to be? I might be interested in donating to your park but I would want the fun of building the rides myself. Since you live in Indy they could be dropped off for you to ad to your park. rollercoasterbuff
Oh that would be amazing. The park is currently 32 square feet. It has plans for definite expansion In the near future. What rides do you have and what would you be considering to donate? I figured all donations would get signage explaining they were a donation, the date, and by who. They are a lot of fun to build, no lie. Let me know when you start on them and which ones you are going to be doing! Cyrus
dmaxsba2408
Let me go through what I have and get you a list. Then you can decide what you think you will need/want in your park. Thought you might like this site about HO scale rides. http://www.rileyv.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/faller.htm

Most are 12volt, you will need a power converter for these. They are perfect for this kind of thing they use a lot less power than standard lights. I have lots of other items like extra motors, magnets, decals/stickers, and random junk. Honestly about the only thing I can think of that you can't have is the Tea Cup Ride (#326). I just don't think I can part with it. Sorry. I don't know whats so special about it but I just remember years ago building an extra one I had, putting in custom lights and watching it go around and around. I just loved it and since there is practically no way to ever get an other one I am going to keep it for a while longer.
mcjaco
I added the IMG tags on your last update so people don't have to click the links to see the pics. I remember checking out those IHC kits back when I worked at a hobby shop during school (waaaay back).
rollercoasterbuff
Oh wow! You have so many! I can tell you right now that There are a few items that I would do just about anything for. Viewing Tower Jungle Train Jupiter Mammoth Cave Ghost Train INDIAGO (absolutely. Been looking for this!) Big Dipper (possibly) Undulation I am definitely in need of props, people, and lights. foliage as well! basically, anything you are looking to/willing to get rid of, even if not listed, i will take. The park could definitely use it. Thanks again! Cyrus
dmaxsba2408
I added the IMG tags on your last update so people don't have to click the links to see the pics. I remember checking out those IHC kits back when I worked at a hobby shop during school (waaaay back). So glad you put the tags on the pictures, and I remember when IHC first came out with their models. I was so happy to see such "low cost" rides available. I was used to spending so much money on the few Faller items that were out at the time. 40 to 100 dollars for a model seemed so expensive to me back when I was in high school and IHC kits were about 10 bucks. So I tried them all. Was very disappointed in the quality of all their kits. Some were SO out of scale and most never worked right. There were 2 exceptions. The "Spider" and the "Carousel". Both kits worked very well (even better if you fitted a Faller motor on to them) and were scaled perfectly. To this day no company has ever made a carousel that could beat IHC's not even Faller. I totally understand your desire for some of these models, most are next to impossible to find and if you did find them they would cost you 100's of dollars. All of them are available to you for your park. Just tell me what one you want first. Edit: Just noticed your PM, sorry. Wrote you back. I really need to pay more attention. mcjaco
Those of you that have IHC kits, hold on to them. IHC has gone belly up, and it may be awhile, if ever, before we see them again.
dmaxsba2408
^ Not sure how much truth there is in it but if you checked out the link I put up on the first post of this page the author of that site made a short comment about Faller's financial troubles back on October 30th. Anyway since I brought it up again (sorry), those of you who are really into these model rides should really check the site out. The man has really good pictures of rides being built, information about what he had to do to make them run smoothly, custom lighting and custom ride controls. Edit: I worded my last comment badly, I should have said something to the effect that Faller may also be in financial trouble.
mcjaco
^ Not Faller. IHC (International Hobby Corp.) has gone belly up in the past 60 days. They've pulled all their ads in the model railroad magazines, and future releases are all being pulled from reputable hobby shop websites. Not that it's uncommon, IHC has been through this issue a few times (AHM/Mehano, etc.) over the past 30 years. They may show up again, but I'd keep those IHC kits for awhile, just in case. Jack Rimer
Faller actually filed bankruptcy last year too. They are supposed to come out of it fine, but they had amassed quite a significant debt. We have considered contacting IHC to purchase the molds for all their rides, but we are so busy with other projects, I don't know when we would even get to them. I also heard that the molds were in kind of bad shape anyways. Faller told me that the amusement ride sales have fallen off the face of the earth. Interest in this type of thing is usually cyclic. I would expect these ride models to gain popularity at some point in the future, but probably not to the level of interest we saw in the 90's. We are fortunate that we have done well with the Comet even in the current market. I think innovative models will always do fine, but the heyday has passed us by. Start collecting these kits....they are only going to get harder to find as time goes on.
rollercoasterbuff
UPDATE: I feel as though I need to let everyone who has been following this know what the latest is! The park has been moved from Indianapolis, IN to Bakersfield, CA. There will be an entirely new park layout, all new rides, and hopefully a new site for everything. The project is on a slight hold, but that should be ending here pretty soon. I have been able to take note of some brainstorming and draw out some possible designs. I would like to post some of the conceptual stuff in the topic here today or tomorrow after I've got a bit more completed. Today I am taking all of the models to a warehouse where I will have plentiful room to build, expand, and make this park the best that it can be. For future updates I will do my best to provide detailed information and photographs outlining the Production of X-Site International Model Amusement Park! Some of what is coming should definitely impress readers as well! Enjoy! Cyrus
