I have a choice of going up to Great Adventure tomorrow or Monday. There are going to be showers all day tomorrow and it's open until 10 PM instead of 8 PM like Monday would be.

I have a few questions keeping those facts in mind.

Which is the better day to go?

How big will the crowds be with a bad forcast?

What's SFGAdv's rain policy?

What is the first ride I should go to?

I do GAdv in the rain alot, sometimes turn out better than others but the crowds are always minimal. KK and B:TR always close in the rain. So if it's not raining at a point during the day I would suggest those two. El Toro and Nitro can be quite painful in the rain as well, so try those when there is little to no rain.

You have from opening to 10 so tomorrow sounds like the better choice to me.

The day I went to GAdv (weekday in 2007), there was a bad forecast and a small storm. The longest line we waited in was for the 4D movie, because it was the only ride open during the storm (Skull Mountain closed). We waited approx. 20 minutes. Other than that, most rides were a Walk-on (Batman, Superman, Rolling Tunder) or a small Station Wait (El Toro, Nitro, Skull Mountain, Medusa). So, overall, crowds shouldn't be that bad.

Every time I've been to Great Adventure this year happened to be on a Friday when they called for Rain/Thunder at 60-70%...once it only rained for 40 minutes (during lunch time, fortunately) - Kingda Ka was the only thing closed in the morning that day, then when the skies cleared they opened it (this was back in June) - but I'm sure they closed some rides when it rained, I was eating lunch and waited it out so I didn't care. Another time we went all the rides were open (except KK) until it finally stormed around 7pm...I was in line for El Toro, it was the longest wait all day (35 minutes - b/c they were only running one train, so it wasn't a bad wait at all), and my relatives and I were literally behind the gate ready to board the next train...and then the ride op announced that they were closing the ride down b/c of the forecast! Which was ok w/ me..better safe then sorry.

Anyway, on all of those days the weather turned out to be nice for the majority of the day and the there was minimal crowds (the longest wait was for KK and El Toro at about 35 minutes each at some point in the day...less in the morning) - I find it that weather forecasts usually aren't that accurate..but it may have just been my luck this year so far since all the days I went turned out to be sunny for most of the day (I'm planning on going tomorrow also).

There's also another thing to consider...there's a concert there tomorrow night..the mtvU VMA tour...and I hear that there are A LOT of people who are going to see the concert (..especially annoying little girls). I don't know what they do about concerts when there's bad weather, but it will probably be crowded b/c people are anticipating going to that concert that night. So there will be low crowds w/ the forecast for tomorrow, but there's going to be a concert w/ popular artists, so that will be what draws the crowds into the park even if the weather is crappy. If it's not raining in the morning, then go on KK or El Toro first since they will have the longest lines during the day (or Bizarro...Nitro usually looks like it has a long line, but they run 3 trains and the line moves rather quickly). If the weather holds out tomorrow night, it will be great b/c a lot of the guests will be at the concert so it leaves the coasters for us Very Happy

I think I only answered 2 of your questions..but there you go.
