MontuWillOwnYou Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 First attempt at a realistic woodie. It's pretty boring, but I'm trying to keep it simple right now while I get better at handbuilding. The Helix is hand-built so it's probably not all that great. Happy grilling blackpanther1.zip Ooooo Picctuuurreeessss
MrX8991 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Just looking at the picture, I recommend straightening the lift hill. Overall, looks pretty good for a first woodie. I'll have to try it out tomorrow, though.
MontuWillOwnYou Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 Gah. Crap. Sorry about that lift hill. I think by mistake I smoothed the wrong segment. I'll be posting an update tomorrow.
the ghost Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 That was actually a pretty fun out and back, but the lateral g's are way to high, also, go over the track and take out some of the supports that the track goes through.
MontuWillOwnYou Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 Good point, Ghost. I'm doing that right now What would you say is a safe level for lat G's? I've gone through a couple more times. The entrance to the helix, from what I can tell, is the most severe portion in terms of lat G's.. Could someone let me know what it gets to? I use NL on a laptop that is sadly wayyy underpowered to be running such a program. My FPS is so bad that a lot of the times I can't really tell what the G's are like. Dreaming about a brand new desktop Thanks for the help
Sasquatch Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Generally speaking, about 1G laterals are about the limit, as they can get uncomfortable past this mark. However, if the forces come in suddenly (such as in a dodgy transition, or suddenly going into a section of track with a much smaller curve) they are likely to spike much higher, so your best plan of attack is to smooth the transitions as much as possible and bank them slightly more.
