From the end of August the Dueling Dragons rollercoasters would be closed for a long time because of some retheming work. I want to ride these rollercoasters when i'm in Orlando from September 13th to September 21st, and the Universal Guest Services still say those rollercoasters are NOT closed when i'm visiting Is this really goin to happen in August and September or are that fake rumors?? Please who of you guys knows more about this and can give me more information.
generaleclectic Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Hmmmm.... Interesting... I thought that this was not going to be delt with until the 'off-season'. I know that Islands of Adventure doesn't really have an off season, but I was reasonably certain that the re-theme of Dueling Dragons wouldn't happen until AFTER Halloween. This probably left to someone that has better insight than I....
crazydaveh Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 It looks like the Halloween fun will be over on the Universal side, and not IOA, so August or September could happen, and once school starts, it is dead until HHN kicks up... To answer the original question... Believe who you want to believe and just know going into your trip that they might not be open, but then again, they might be! When the first of September rolls around, start asking again... You'll either already know the answer or you'll be able to get a better answer rather than speculation.
CoasterEricHP Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Dragons has to close sometime for the retheme and if they are painting the track, redoing the queue, trains, and whatever else it could be down for a few months. They'll probably do whatever work needs done on the Unicorn during that time also. I would say that the opening of HP is probably looking like next Spring/Summer. It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to close down dragons, retheme it, and then reopen it BEFORE the rest of the land is done. So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say (contrary to screamscape and everything else) that Dragons will be closed from early Jan'10 to May'10 and reopen with the rest of The Wizarding World.
