expeditioneverestfan Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I went to SFGAM yesterday with a friend and took some pictures. I know they aren't great but I had to take a lot of them while walking. The park wasn't busy but still had a good amount of people. The coasters had really short lines. Twice we had no wait to ride. We went on 9 coasters which were, Whizzer, Viper, Demon, Raging Bull, American Eagle blue and red, Batman, Dark Night, and Ragin' Cajun. Didn't want to do Iron Wolf, V2 was closed, didn't do the kiddie coaster, and Superman had a really long line. We also went on some flat rides like, Condor, River Rocker, Ricochet, Chubasco, and Fiddlers Fling. Onto the photos. You can see my Buccaneer Battle Construction photos: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50288 Here's Raging Bulls new sign. I like this one better. Whizzer is SFGAM oldest coaster and has a spiral lift hill. An empty queue is a rare thing at SFGAM. Whizzer was really the first coaster we rode. I just wanted it here. Wow that shot came out good! I was in a lot of pain around those corkscrews. Our next coaster was Demon! ...freaking awesome woody with lots of airtime. It was running great when we rode it, very smooth and fast in the rain! At SFGAM Viper is a... Here's the famous double ferris wheel at the entrance. In case you already forgot what park I went to. The last new thing is Wiggles World. I didn't take any pictures of rides there. Just a lot of brightly colored kiddie rides. The second new thing (since I've been there) is American Eagle's sucky new sign. Why did they get rid of the Eagle?
expeditioneverestfan Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 Does Demon always hurt so much around the corkscrews when you guys ride it. My head was like this A little around the loops too. Does this happen to everyone or is it just me?
Airtime&Gravity Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Nice pov, and nice little trip report too. The Buccaneer Battle photos were nice, and it should be a nice ride when it opens. Demon has been running well since the red train (the only one running) came out of rehab, so I'm surprised that the corkscrews were so rough. They are still a little rough, but nothing terrible. I know crowds were extremely light yesterday, but ride operations were the complete opposite of how they were the week before. Some rides like Batman: the Ride, American Eagle, and Dark Knight were running at the same capacity, and had short waits again, but the other rides were running at a lower capacity. Even though it was another dead day, it was still more crowded than the previous week, wait times were what you'd see in the summer due to one train operation. Granted, the line wasn't as long as in the summer, but the wait time was. Viper's line went up to the 30 minute mark, but because of one train operation, the wait time was an hour. Maybe I'm just spoiled since Great America usually does run the coasters at or near full capacity, and it was just a surprise to see something that I haven't had to deal with since my trips to Kentucky Kingdom. (the only time I remember experiencing one train operation on a wide scale) End Rant
mike541x Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Does Demon always hurt so much around the corkscrews when you guys ride it. My head was like this A little around the loops too. Does this happen to everyone or is it just me? Even though it's been a while since I went on it, I don't recall the corkscrews being that painful. It was a bit jerky but Demon is a decent ride. Cool TR BTW.
expeditioneverestfan Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 Here's some more pictures of the park. There's some Raging Bull, V2, Flat rides and Batman. Next update I'll add Dark Night, Ragin' Cajun and the rest of my pictures. Last photo: The ride with the longest wait, Oldtime bathroom the ride! In action! Random black and white, artsy, Batman, loop shot. First loop. Great caption huh? Loop and corkscrew make coasters awesome! Zero-G Roll and ride sign! OMG! Original Batman is running which is good because it will be my first inverted coaster! Ricochet in loading and unloading action! Sky Tower in action! Orbit in action! River Rocker in action! Yeah Cedar Point, I can to in action too! River Rocker is a viking boat not themed to a viking boat. Needless to say we were not happy about this. OMG, What the heck happened to the rest of the train? ...or not. They're probably just reloading now.. I was really excited for V2. First drop of the Bull. This is a really bad picture. I see Raging Bull running!
netdvn Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Ever since getting those GAm maps in the mail I've been fascinated with this park and its sister park in California. Anyway, excellent photos. The park seems nicely themed and actually clean for a SF park.

expeditioneverestfan Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 Here's my last update and the rest of my pictures. That's all I have to say. Sign for Ragin' Cajun. Last picture from the car. As you can see it began to rain. I have a few more pictures. I might put them up. They aren't great. Thank you for reading my first trip report. Hurricane Harbor. It is now time to go. What a great name for an arcade. Games. Even though the line was long, I really liked the coaster. It had a really fast lift hill and great theming. The coaster wasn't scary but fun. News banner from the video page. They really made this sight great. It has tons of videos made to go with Harvey Dent and great stuff like that. Here's another one. See how it has joker writing on it and that stuff. Here's a pic of the site. Go to that website. It's real. They made a cab website that the joker took over! They set it up like a real train station. The bulding is awesome! See? The theming kicks a$$! SFGAM has one of the "bad" Dark Knight coasters.
