Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I am going down to California in July and I plan on visiting those 2 theme parks that happen to be close to where I'm staying. Uncle Will and cousin Steven might come along with me to the parks and I'm wondering if there's any rides they can't ride or might have some problems with. I want to let them know ahead of time (to avoid embarassment). They have both never been to either of the parks. Uncle Will is about 6'4 and 220lbs. The only rides I've seen him try to cram himself into (but said was abit of a squeeze) are Backlot Stunt Track (Premier Launched) and Mighty Canadian Minebuster (PTC). Cousin Steven is about 6'7 and 275lbs. I think he might not be able to get on a lot of rides (don't know for sure though) because I know that he even has to sleep on a custom made bed. I know SLC's have a cutoff at 6'5 because of the footchoppers or something, so Steven would not be able to ride Kong. Not sure about B&M inverts or Vekoma Invertigos.
ebl Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 ^ It doesn't sound like Uncle Will should have any problems. Cousin Steven...maybe. I believe that the maximum height limit on SLCs (as with Invertigos and Giant Inverted Boomerangs like Deja Vu) is because of the potential for someone tall to reach up into the track above. That's apparently not a problem with B&M inverted coasters, being that I've not seen an upper limit on those. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong with any info I've given. Eric

Eric Yeah, thats why I think that neither of them would have a problem on Flight Deck (which I am very excited to ride myself). So most likely Kong and Invertigo cousin Steven won't be able to go on? I guess B&M inverts have designed teh train to hang far enough from the track that even someone with long arms can't reach it? The only one I'm kinda worried about for uncle Will would be Roar at SFDK and Grizzley at CGA. AS I hear those type of coasters are not too good for tall people. I can't really say as I'm quite short. ~ Jess "Do not reach for the sky" Chan
ebl Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 ^ It also helps that B&M inverted coasters have their guide wheels on the outer side of the track, as opposed to Vekoma models with inside guide wheels. Eric
Calicoasters Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Unlce Will shouldn't have any problems on any coaster or rides except some kiddie stuff. Steve on the other hand will have a hard time on a lot of rides! He will not be able to ride V2: Vertical Veloctiy for sure! I've never seen a listed height limit but they do have a support in the station that has a cut off around 6'5." He also might have some trouble with leg room on Roar and especially Grizzly! He also might have trouble with Grizzly's seabealts and lap bar. I'm just past 6'4 and I'm almost too tall for B&M stand-ups, so you can count him out of Vortex. Invertigo's max height is 78 inches. Firefall is 77" Endeavor 76" SFDK doesn't have any maximums posted, but I know V2 is somewhere just above 6'4"
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 Uncle Will has ridden a TOGO standup with me before. Skyrider at CW. He said it was really hard on his legs. Well I think both Will and Steven will have problems with Grizzly and Roar. I remembered the time uncle Will tried to cram himself into a PTC train, I had to help him in and out!
Calicoasters Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Uncle Will really? (It feels weird typing Uncle... casue he's not my Uncle) I'm almost 6'5" around 280 pounds and I find that crossing my legs on coasters with lap bars seems to help depending on the ride!
ebl Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 "...both Will and Steven will have problems with Grizzly..." (Jess) I have problems with Grizzly, too---staying awake on it! Eric

He had never ridden that ride before taht time so he didn't know about the crossing your legs or slouching down thing. He has long legs too.
dpxtreme Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Uncle Will, will probably be able to fot on Vortex, which is the stand-up at CGA. I have seen some tall people that were able to fit. I don't know what the SFDK policy is, but at CGA since there are no test seats for any of the rides in the park, you can always have them go through the exit and try out a seat, and if they fit, then go back and wait in line.
