Thrillrider92 Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 I believe that Fred Ingersoll, dosen't receive the credit he should for what he did for the Amusement park industry, he designed and built many coasters (over 200), in the western PA area- Ohio-New York-West Virgina and some other states/ countries but also starting the first amusement park chains- "Luna Parks". Anyone agree with me that he should receive more credit. He grew up in Pittsburgh, he built and designed Kennywood's first coaster and John Miller started to work for him when he was 19. That's basicly all I know. Dose anyone know anything else know anything about him? Read he appearently committed suicide, is this true, anyone know? Thanks
The Alex Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 That is REALLY interesting. Thanks for sharing. I hope somebody can clear this up/add to the conversation.
Simon Baynham Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Hi TPR Frederic Thompson and Elmer Dundy founded the first Luna Park at Coney Island NY. There's a great chapter on Ingersoll in Robert Cartmell's The Incredible Scream Machine. Simon
