Hello,

I'm going to Spain in the summer holidays (28th July - 10th August) with my family and friend and we are going to head over to Port Aventura whilst we are there. We are staying in Salou, so you can imagine that we'd be stupid not to go. What I was wondering was if there are any tips or advice you can give to me to maximise the whole experience. Are there fast track type tickets availabe? What rides should I head to first? What rides get busy and when? Are there any other parks nearby that I could consider going to? Stuff like that would be very useful.

One last thing. I am scared to go on Hurakan Condor but, I have been on Apocalypse and Detonator. Should I go on it and if so, what sides are the best.

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: I have some more questions for you guys! Please answer.

- *Will it be busy at that time of year?*

- *What places are best for food?*

- Is the water park there worth going to.

- Is the water park outside of Port Aventura worth going to?

- Are the night openings worth going to?

- Is there a good day plan/order to do things in?

- *What rides get busy and when?*

- *Is it better to go more than once/ twice / three times?*

Thank you!

P.S. *(question)* = Important question!

There are indeed express queues in Port Aventura. Oddly enough, I don't see it anywhere mentioned on their website. But they certainly have such express passes. I also know there are different types of express passes. I can only recommend to go for the most expensive option with unlimited rerides.

HC and Baco don't have an express queue, so enter the park about (but at least) 30 minutes before opening and get in line for Baco. Frontrow will take you only 2 or 3 trains longer (you'll see) so go for frontrow. Remember that Baco will close early in the evening (about 1 hour early) for the lakeshow.

You are not able to choose the side you ride on HC. The op will tell you were to sit. Tilting stand up side is the best of course. You can try to ask the op nicely to ride that side but no guarantee that it will work.

If you don't mind to ride alone, take the single riders line.

And if you rode Apocalypse stand up side, don't be scared to ride HC.

Don't miss Templo del Fuego.

With your express passes you will be able to ride all the other major rides without waiting.

Nearest themepark to PA is Tibidabo in Barcelona.

PA also has a waterpark. I can't imagine that there aren't combitickets for the 2 parks. Arrive at the waterpark at openingtime and do all the rides with minimal waiting. If you go to the waterpark in the afternoon, you will be waiting several hours and do rides for a few minutes.

In Salou there is also another waterpark called Aquapolis.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much! That was extremely helpful! I'll try to talk my dad into getting the ultimate flashpass but I'm not sure if he'll like the idea of spending yet more money. We'll have to wait and see.

It's a shame that you can't choose what side you sit on on HC, but I'm sure my english charm, which comes oh so naturally, will be what it takes for the op to budge!

I will probably go on it now as I have indeed been on the Stand Up Tilting side of Apocalypse. I've heard that HC isn't quite as good as Apocalypse, even with the height. Something about it not having such a large sensation of freefall as Apocalypse does. I'll find out!

Enough of the blabbering. Thanks again!

Good luck with the ride ops, they were really bitchy to anyone of our group (all nationalities) when we did the TPR Spain Trip. No one got to choose, you just had to keep going around and hope for good luck!

I can't imagine how busy it will be there in August

I went in early May a few years ago and the place was empty, we went on Dragon Khan like 9 times in a row and never waited more than 5 minutes

oh I love that coaster

Is that a 'you can't imagine it because it will be really busy' or literally, you can't imagine it because you haven't been at that time.

You guys are more than welcome to post more advice by the way! That would be very helpful to me and my family. I have some more questions:

- *Will it be busy at that time of year?*

- *What places are best for food?*

- Is the water park there worth going to.

- Is the water park outside of Port Aventura worth going to?

- Are the night openings worth going to?

- Is there a good day plan/order to do things in?

- *What rides get busy and when?*

- *Is it better to go more than once/ twice / three times?*

Thank you!

I'll try to give some replies.

- *Will it be busy at that time of year?* : I've never been there that time of year, but I can imagine it can be very busy in full holiday period. But remember, there are express passes available.

- *What places are best for food?* : overall the food in the park is excellent. I think the burgers in the restaurant next to Tukiti Splash are awesome. Also the à la carte restaurant ('Roquete del mar' or something similar) close to Baco is also excellent but not the cheapest deal you can get. The 'all you can eat buffet' in the Port Aventura hotel for me is the best place to eat. But if you're not staying in the hotel, I don't think you will be able to enter the hotel, even if you'll mention it's only for dinner that you want to enter.

- Is the water park there worth going to. : it's fun but not that big. Go there at opening time and ride everything without a wait in the first 2 hours. In the afternoon, the waterpark will be packed.

- Is the water park outside of Port Aventura worth going to? Aquapolis you mean ? Yes, it is IMO better than the PA waterpark.

- Are the night openings worth going to? Absolutely. It's great to ride DK or HK in the dark. The views are amazing. Also, the show on the lake is one of the best shows you will ever see.

- Is there a good day plan/order to do things in? Apart from getting express passes, arrive well before official openingtime and queue for Baco immediately. It will be your shortest wait of the day for Baco. After that, head over to the back of the park and ride HK and Tomahawk. If you don't have express passes, you can also ride Stampida and DK. By then the lines will be long everywhere.

- *What rides get busy and when?* See above.

- *Is it better to go more than once/ twice / three times?* The theming is really awesome so you might want to revisit. Personnaly, if I had to choose between getting a 3 day pass or a 1 day pass with an express pass, I would choose the latter.

Thanks. That really helps a lot. I'm really excited to be going somewhere different. I'm not staying at a Port Aventura hotel. I'm at a place in Salou. Just so you know! However, I will certainly check out the place by Tukiti Splash! I love burgers! Thank you again.
