Hand 0f Time
Well, I am at the age of 17, and have been searching for a job since I turned 16. Unfortunately, there has been no luck. A few interviews, but nothing. So when I went to Cedar Point last year, I asked a few workers there about applying out of state, since I noticed that on their nametags, it had their location of living. They have said that they have hotels free of charge to employees at the park, and is open for anyone out of state. So I came to wondering... What other parks besides Cedar Point allow accommodations for employees out of state? Nothing more than I'd love to work at a Theme Park for a Summer time Job. Any help will be greatly appreciated from me. And I hope you wil have a super special awesome day. P.S: I will turn 18 at the end of May, so it is considered legal for me to move out with supervision from another.
jimths08
I know Disney World has apartments for interns but I'm not sure if they're open to seasonal employees. They may be just for the interns.
Hand 0f Time
Yeah. I found that out on the site. But you must be out of high school in order to attend there.
timberskara
Cedar Point definitely has a lot of employees from other states and countries! They do have housing for staff that live a certain distance (50 miles?) away from the park. Unfortunately, they aren't free and definitely aren't anything like a hotel. In case you're interested, here is the list of the different prisons--er facilities--they offer if you're interested. Several parks offer some sort of housing options for out-of-state employees-- some of them have their own facilities (CP, VF), some partner with local colleges and use their housing during the summer, and some offer a subsidy for you to put towards an apartment in the area. Just check out the employee section of the park's web site or give their HR department a call. Like a lot of people, it was an eye-opening experience for me working at CP right out of high school. Moving away from home and "living on my own" the summer between HS and College was good for me. I remember going to college orientation during the summer and everyone was asking questions about living on their own, away from family. It kind of made me feel like a rock star that I was ahead of the game in that regard . Man that was sooo long ago! Anyway, working for a park can definitely be a great experience for some of us, but not for others. I'd always recommend giving it a shot and seeing if it's your thing! Hand 0f Time
Great advice. Thanks! What makes the living quarters in CP like a prison? I would like to hope they treat alot better than what is viewed on the outside. Yeah. I am not out of High School yet, since I am in 11th grade. But I just need to have a break from my family, lol. And this would be a perfect oppritunity.
carolinacaniac
Cedar Point is really the only one that has a decent set-up for out of the local area employees. Some other parks have limited housing or subsidize the cost of housing for you, but I think a majority of them would leave you on your own for housing. I know when I applied for jobs the first year I worked at Cedar Point, I tried Dorney Park, Morey's Piers, Hersheypark and a couple Six Flags parks. The only one I recall offering assistance with housing was Dorney, but that was about 5 years ago, so my memory may not be completly correct. -Gary T.
