sclisso
Hey, i've been watching the Roller Coasters in the raw Volume 2 and I was listening and watching the Silver Star video and i heard a weird click every time the train crested a hill. I'm wondering what that sound is , it bugs me,haha. I thought it could be some type of anti rollback thing but i couldn't see any teeth on the track for that. Any Ideas? Mr. Starr
Trim brakes?
sclisso
no, i know what the trim brakes look like, i think they're usually going back up the hill because you can see them and they make a sound when the train goes past them.
TPDave
I believe the sound as the train crests the hill is the sound of disappointment and sighs of riders bored to death by the overly trimmed and rather monotonous hyper.
dandaman
The clicking sound is Ryan texting on top of the lift.
Wood Dragon 1988
Joking aside, every B&M hyper I've seen makes that sound. Â Have no idea what it is though.
mantis2004
The "clicking" you hear on B&M hypers is the anti-rollbacks falling down into place. I've even heard it on stand-ups (Mantis in particular) on slower/colder days. This has nothing to do with trim brakes/boredom/etc... Â
cfc
^It has everything to do with boredom on Silver Star.
sclisso
You sure its the Anti-Rollbacks? You never see any of the jagged metal pieces on the track for the Anti rollback or do you mean the mechanism under the train moving from the force and making the sound? mantis2004
It's the mechanisms under the trains that are producing the noise. Has nothing to do with the track (sans the speed/angle/etc) which will cause the anti-rollbacks to raise & lower throughout the ride.
sclisso
Hmm, that could be a really good explanation of the sound.I think you're right on the money.I reviewed the video and the sound resembles when your going up the lift. I actually found that Dive Coaster in china( not sure if all Dive Coasters do this) makes a loud clang after the drop possibly being the same thing. I always thought that the Anti rollback was spring loaded...guess not, lol. Thanks, it drove me nuts not knowing what it was, i'm a curious person i guess, haha.
