Goliath513 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Hey everyone! Last night, I met up with Adam (thrillgeek) and some other friends for the new years eve party at SFDK! The late afternoon was mostly walk-ons, and for the rest of the night, we didn't wait longer than 15 minutes for any ride. The highlight of the night was being on Medusa's lift as the year changed over to 2009! As the train peaked over the lift to the drop, the fireworks began and we watched them as we rode. Last ride of 2008, and the first train back into the station for 2009! Here are the pictures! And finally, Austin Powers makes his appearance in the parade! More of the parade. The Looney Tunes characters make their appearance! The Holiday Parade began at 10 PM This year's theme - Austin Powers! Holiday sea lion show. Santa's sleigh and reindeer decorations on V2's spike. Tree at night. And yes, my camera's night settings suck. Kong has finally been repainted. It wasn't running as bad as earlier in the year, but it still delivered much pain. It's always funny to hear people complaining of headaches after getting off. This should be sponsored by Advil instead of Heinz. Not quite as big as last years tree, but the tree hugger hippies still protest. Monsoon Falls was also down for its annual rehab. Tony Hawk's Big Spin from Roar's station. Something's missing here... You can see how crowded the park was before night! Roar, now 10 years old, is still running great! The Santa tracker looked a bit worn out from all the Holiday action. Tony Hawk's Big Spin welcomes us along the hike from the parking lot to the park.
thrillgeek Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Thanks for sharing Sam. I just wish I would have had my camera handy so I could add some pics. Your's sure captured the awesome holiday feel of the park though. Too bad we couldn't get any pics of the fireworks. Watching the fireworks from Medusa was such a treat though!
U2Rox Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Hey, I just wanted to say I think it's really cool that you spent New Years at a park and on a Coaster at the turn of the clock!! If I could I would have done that also!! Happy riding for 2009!!
Anfronee Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Great TR. What an amazing way to bring in the New Year. Not going to lie, I am a bit Jealous.
dino Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Such A cool way to spend New Years Eve. Lots of theme parks seem to have light crowds that day. Guess too many people would rather drink than ride coasters (looks down shamefully).
