Groteslurf Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 we plan to visit next June during a 10 day trip Sfga, hershey, dorney, Paramount, geauga and cp. In our opinion, best is to fly in via Jfk, rent a car and then move up to Ohio and fly back from Cleveland. Other suggestions are welcome. Above 6 parks are on our must do list. Are there any other parks worth to visit ? What about the waterparks some of the 6 parks have. Which ones are the best ? Any suggestions on hotels or motels we should look for ?
SharkTums Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Keep in mind that one-way car rentals can be MUCH more expensive than normal rentals. If you are okay with a little more driving it's probably a better idea to kind of do a big circle and fly in and out of the same place. Do Dorney's Waterpark, it's the best one you'll pass on that trip! I'm sure more people will post more suggestions for parks (kennywood, knoebels, sfa) Elissa "have fun!" Alvey
Groteslurf Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 ok, will take the Dorney waterpark in our planning. Driving in a big circle would be a good idea but we would need some additional parks in our schedule. We would prefer a direct flight out of Brussels or Amsterdam so Nyc would be the most suitable airport to enter the Usa. The order we would do the parks would be Sfga, Dorney (+ waterpark), Hershey, Paramount, Cp, Geauga. Btwn Hershey and Paramount there is approx 450 miles. Are there parks on the way which are worth while so that we can do this distance in 2 times ? After Geauga, which parks are on the way back to Nyc ? We would start our tour btwn 7 and 11 June 2006 for about 10 days. How are the crowds in the parks at that time ? Can we expect short rows during weekdays and medium rows during the weekend ? Or will the parks already be packed ?
Groteslurf Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 in the meanwhile i found out that Kennywood would be an excellent bonus park on the way fm hershey to Pki. I still have to double-check , but as the distance btwn Cleveland airport and Jfk is about 469 miles, the surcharge for dropping of the car in Cleveland would still be at an acceptable surcharge. If it indeed would turn out to be very expensive to drop the car in Cleveland, I think a excellent bonus park would be SF Darien Lake. (the Superman : RoS coasters, are they exactly the same in SFDL, SFA and SFNE ?
CoasterFanatic Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 For kicks I have planned a 10 Day PA Trip and found the best route is: Fly into PIT Start with Kennywood End with Geauga Fly out of PIT I can send you the plans if you wish.

CoasterFanatic Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 ^ Ok. I will send them later when I get home. You may have to modify them a little bit because I don't think I included CP.
shepp Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 (the Superman : RoS coasters, are they exactly the same in SFDL, SFA and SFNE ? SFDL's and SFA's are mirror images of each other. SFNE's has a different layout and tunnels.
CoasterFanatic Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Well here was the trip I was trying to put together. I was actually toying with the thought of making it a motor-coach trip for next summer figuring that all the European coaster nuts would drool over the itenerary. It is still a possibility, but some serious planning would have to start real soon. Unfinished Route http://www.coasterfanatics.com/files/2006_trip.pdf (3 MB) Plan Day 1 - Kennywood Day 2 - Idlewild/Lakemont Day 3 - DelGrossos/Williams Grove Day 4 - Hershey Day 5 - Dutch Wonderland/Blue Diamond/Clementon Day 6 - Great Adventure Day 7 - Sesame Place/Dorney Day 8 - Knoebels Day 9 - Conneaut Lake Park/Waldameer Day 10 - Geauga Lake

It is a very interesting itenary but we will go for the 'bigger' parks since it will be our first time we visit these parks. Also found out that the surcharge for dropping of the car in Cleveland fm Jfk or vice versa, is only usd 100 so our plan now is to fly in via Cleveland and fly back fm Jfk. Depending on how packed the parks are mid June, we would go for following planning : arrive Cleveland on Friday 9 June Geauga lake : Saturday 10 June CP : Sunday 11 and Monday 12 June PKI : Tuesday 13 June Kennywood : Wednesday 14 June Hershey : Thursday 15 June Dorney + Waterpark : Friday 16 and Saturday 17 June SFGA : Sunday 18 June and Monday 19 June fly back fm Jfk on Monday 19 june in the evening. Does anybody know whether we can expect long or short rows ? Do (some of) these parks also have an 'express pass' similar to the express passes you can buy at the Universal parks ? If we would go for above planning, which ticket combination or season passes should we take ? Any hotels/motels near to above parks which you recommend ?
