aslinterpreter Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Hello everybody! My wife and I go every year to SDC to interpret for Deaf Awareness Day, here are the pics from today. Dont laugh at my green shirt, its the one they make us wear when we interpret. I didnt laugh when they gave me 4 free tix and a free weekend at the hotel! Jeffrey and April Since Wildfire was not running yet, I had to go and interpret the cave tour. Glad all the bat guano is gone!!!!!! Wildfire has a really nice backdrop! Lift hill.... Wildfire was closed because some deer had hopped the fence and were running around the track! You can see the guy in the red cart was chasing them off.....remember this IS Missouri, I was shocked some hillbilly didnt shoot them first! OK, so after I interpreted the opening of the park, I ran to Wildfire, and found this...... These 2 have worked there forever!!! Both are very, very nice. The tall guys name is Shorty, not sure about hers. Some big ACE'r guy probably won this. is "big" and "acer" kind of redundant? So that why all these kids are here!!!! They actually had some cool thing set up for the kids all over the park. Water clock thing. Finally here!!!!! Ejector seat. No thanks! This is what people came to look at all weekend. Normal Branson traffic This was NOT a good weekend to go to SDC. They had a HUGE car show all weekend with these classic cars cruising the strip all day and night. People set their chairs out to sit and watch them all weekend! More normal Branson stuff. Thats me and our friends son, Colin. He his 4 and has never been to ANY park or even been on a carnival ride! This was a big first for him. The guy in the purple car thought he was driving in NASCAR or something! We started off the weekend with a ride on the go karts. I think thats required whenever you go to Branson.
MixedDrink Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Awesome Photo TR so far. Sucks Wildfire was down!
aslinterpreter Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 Here is the next set of pics. and this is Colin as soon as we got into the car! Thanks everybody for looking! HEHEHEH baldknobbers!!!! As a side note to this ride, I also rode it for the first time when I was 5. On the way to SDC my parents told me this urban legend about Fire in the Hole. They said that the guy controlling the ride pushed the wrong button and sent the train into the storage area, which was only was high as the trains themselves. He yelled for everyone to duck, but the guy in the very front didnt hear him and his head ended up in the lap of the guy behind him. So the first 5 times I rode it, I was ducked all the way down!!!!! Nice parenting, I know. Fire in The Hole! Great ride! The queue for PK went all the way out of the building and all the way down the hill! Hour and a half wait. Its a great ride, but I am not that patient! I think I got this one right at the launch. Pre launch Everybody has this one....... Front view of PK Lost river of the ozarks. Not a bad ride at all, but the line was hella long! We skipped the waterboggen also. I did notice many women wearing white shirts coming off this ride, not a great idea. I mean, not a great idea to notice Ozark women in white shirts coming off this ride! I didnt take any pics of that, thank me later! I figured out Colin loves to shoot stuff so we spent a lot of time here. So we rode this instead. I took this pic not for the ride, but for the great job of parenting seen here. 1. they put a dog harness on their kid. Most of the day he was hooked to a leash also. 2. they took the leash off and let him try to climb the fence into the ride! OK....so we go to ride the tea cups and ride before we get on, we notice this one cup still has people in it. Well.....some brilliant PREGNANT woman rode it with her husband and spinned so hard she PASSED OUT! So they shut it down for a bit. we passed on this one.... This is classic Branson style! I know you all wish you had this same shirt! I rode this once last year. And was Willy Wonka says"one is enough for anybody!" All the rides in this section were run by Asian girls. The girl that was at this one kept saying"Thank you for your riding!" I love Asians! (and yes Colin in asian also!) Its very hard to fit into this thing when you are as tall as I am! So here we are on Colins very first credit!!!!! He was way excited!!!! or like this. This is how we looked most of the day! One of our favorites! Final score! He hit 10 which isnt too bad! A short side note about this guy here. I first rode this ride when I was 5. We got stuck right there next to him for 30 minutes! I got really freaked out because he keeps saying"Sweat a little blood and you might get outta this place!" not fun when you are 5 and a big wuss! So this is Colins very first ride of any kind....ever....he loved it! Flooded mine ride more backside of Powder Keg. OK let me explain these next 2 pics. To get to the robbery site, I have to ride a golf cart thru the back of the park. These next 2 shots are of the backside of Powder Keg, I took them while the golf cart was still going thats why they are not the best! After the cave, I went to interpret the train robbery. It is one of favorites and have done it for 8 years now. I have the whole thing just about memorized. This is a pic behind the shack of Alphie and Ralphie, they have both worked there for 25 years!
tnguy Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Good stuff. SDC is one of the parks I want to get to the most. Especially because they still have a train robbery and the flooded mine ride. Two of my favorite things as a kid that dollywood got rid of.
MixedDrink Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Looks like an awesome park, heck, the rides are so family friendly I could take MY family there!
nagro5 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I was in Branson the same day as you! I didn't go to the park though. Was the traffic as unbearable that night for you as it was for me? We wanted to eat at Fudruckers, so we waited in the two hour traffic jam to eat there! I wanted an effing good hamburger, so the wait was totally worth it. Haha
STR8FXXXINEDGE Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Nice TR! I loved everything about Branson when I was there. Looks like you guys had a great time. It's always nice to witness someone ride their first coaster.
aslinterpreter Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 Thanks everybody! Yes the traffic was terrible.....it was worse than we normally would see there I think. All the overflow lots were full and they were making people park in a hotel lot down 76 and take a shuttle in!
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Awesome TR! Thanks for sharing your day and congrats to Colin on shooting ten prisoners and riding is first coaster. It looks like SDC has more to offer than I would have thought.
