Team Thriller
This was all in german. I'll post the actual german news, for those who know German, and then the translation for those who don't. I think the guy who should have been fired was the guy who started the ride before the man gave a thumbs up to dispatch it. This isn't all the German quote. The link has all of it and a creepy picture. Kirmes-Horror in Kiel! Quick summery translation: In Eastern Germany (Kiel) a ride operator hangs from tower because a fifteen year old girl 'played around' and wrapped her legs around him. Suddenly, though, the ride actually went, carring him up 60 meters while he held on for life. He survived and the girl was questioned. Sean Menefee
I guess just when you think you've seen all forms of guest/employee stupidity, something like this happens. It's also nice to hear everyone ended up being okay after this rather LARGE mess up. -Sean I couldn't help myself.
Team Thriller
^ IMAO I hope all the stupid people involved got what they deserved. The stupid ride operator that dispatched the ride before he was okayed to do. EDIT: Actually, the girl probably was goofing around and didn't even know the ride would go. She probably wasn't that stupid, even though it looked like her fault. --James
krouvi
I am happy for the happy end of this story. Kuckly the ride op put the ride down asap. Sometimes they like to let the gondola stay up for few minutes before the freefall ....
Steffen_Dk
What was that stupid girl thinking?
Bolliger&Mabillard
Weird to see the ops were not "trigger happy" with the e-stop as most ops in America would be (nod to Knott's Berry Farm)
Mr. Starr
Did he like bit*h slap the girl across the face right after!? Yeesh, stupid.
Kennyweird
It's a miracle he was able to hold on for the entire ride cycle. The ride op should press charges against the girl.
Team Thriller
^ I think he should press charges on the other ride op who started the ride before he was given the thumbs up. The girl probably didn't mean for that to happen. She was goofing around and then the ride started. She probably felt really bad. But yes, I hope she learned her lessen. --James
