Skramp Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Hey ya'll. I'm going to be in Pittsburgh over Labor Day for a wedding and was thinking about heading down to Kennywood on that Sunday. How crowded would it be then? What rides do I definitely need to hit? Anything else to do in that area? Thanks.
DenDen Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Being it's very much a "local park", sundays are crowded, especially if the weather is good. But personally, I think it's worth it. Can't miss attractions: Phantoms Revenge Thunderbolt Jack Rabbit semi-can't miss attractions (for their classic value): Kangaroo Turtle Racer Whip Can't miss food: Potato Patch Dip Cone The Lucky (across from potato patch, small building, serves the best corn dogs!)
coaster1 Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I've never had an issue with crowds, we went on a Sunday in September last year and it was dead and then on a Saturday this summer to minimal crowds. I can see the place getting busy, but I haven't had any bad luck yet. As DenDen said, not to miss are: Jack Rabbit Phantom's Revenge Thunderbolt Noah's Ark Whip Kangaroo Turtle Potato Patch More not to miss in my book: - Garfield's Nightmare - Exterminator - Swing Around - King Kahuna (minus the water) It's a great time all around, remember to sit in the very back of Jack Rabbit
Guest Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 If I were gonna be in town I would meet up with you, but I will be in FL riding my new B**ch! Watch labor day weekend, it can be packed. Labor day is THE worst. Lines are insane and the park is crowded. Patch Fries don't miss. Soooo good. Don't miss any of the coasters, as they are totally unique. Ride all the flats. If you don't want soaked don't ride King Kahuna (if the water is running, which it has all season), or raging rapids. Any queue line that is filled is no more then about 20 minutes. Except Exterminator, it is low capacity, and hit it in the beginning of the day. Have fun, make sure you find someone to ride the T-Bolt with, need to have a partner. Ride the Pittfall riverside if you can, best view in the burgh. Katie
ddaver177 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 You should not have a problem at all with the lines. Definately hit all the coasters. Potatoe Patch is like top fries place of amusement parks. Corn dogs are also a favorite at the park. Enjoy the trip. I have been there two times and have not been dissapointed.
