eurorides Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Hey guys . I’m planning a Theme park trip in September and I have two choices. Not been to any before so any help on which one you think is best would be great. Thanks Six Flags Magic Mountain (20th and 21st September) Knott’s Berry Farm (23rd and 24th September) Or Cedar point Halloween nights (26th, 27th and 28th September)
TPDave Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 That seems a very long time to be spending at the parks...
eurorides Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 well im traveling from the UK so i want to take in as much of the parks as possible. SFMM and CP are over a weekend so im expecting it to be busy.
TPDave Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 In october we did USF and IOA in 1 day and all four Disney parks in two days. Now that might be a *little* too fast paced but two days each at SFMM and KBF seems overkill to me
eurorides Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 Do you think a Saturday or a Sunday would be ok to take in all of SFMM?
omnio55 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I don't know...but I would say its not to long to spend that much time that way you can do everything you want, not get stressed and take your time. As far as your choice goes I've never gone to ceder point, but it all depends on what rides you want to do. Although there is a big difference in the area around ceder point and California so might look to see if there is anything around the parks in those areas you want to check out too. I would just do some research and decide what you wanna do more. and I imagine that you might be able to do all of SFMM in one day but its a massive park and in my experience seems crowded randomly.
eurorides Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 Well i'm more interested in riding the rollercoasters. Both SFMM and CP have a lot which is why i'm having difficulty in making a decision. There is always a idea to go to the two disney parks in California too but although the themeing is supposed to be brilliant i don't think there are enough thrill rides there to entertain me! Minor edit made for clarity: larrygator
Carnage Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 If you do an entire weekend at Cedar Point you'll probably run into two extremes on different days. Friday and Sunday should be deserted. Saturday during Halloweekends they can fill the park to capacity. At least I've been a couple October saturday's where the park is jam packed. The weather in late September would be much more iffy in Ohio then it would be in California. Though you're from the UK, so a bit of cold and rain would probably make you feel at home.
eurorides Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 Yes the wether here is not that great ...... well i think i may have just sorted out my problem. I'm going to fly LA from the uk. hire a car and drive up to SFMM. Spend the saturday and sunday there. Drive down to KBF for a day and a half, drop the car of at LA and get the Southwest Chief train to Sandusky. Takes 45 hours but the views through the states Especially Colorado would be amazing. Then im sure i can get to the CP park from Sandusky. Spend friday, sat and sunday there and then get the train back. I think the one really busy day at CP would be good becuse the atmosphere will be amazing.
TheStig Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Honestly I would consider flying to Sandusky. Dan and I did a little research and it's MUCH cheaper in some cases, so I would say look in to that. Have fun on your trip!
eurorides Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 Yes i did look into flying there but only to Cleveland Hopkins International as no one seemed to fly from LA to Griffing airport in Sandusky. The coach from cleveland to sandusky leaves at funny times.
