kraken613 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I dont have anything much other than Tenessee Tornado's video system is up. The video cost $19.99. I also have pictures of the upper loop. Nothing too interesting up there yet. Lines where pretty long but it was a nice day other than the rain shower at one point..... Also it was pretty creepy coming home.... It rained pretty hard...... Cool pictures of Dare Devil Falls to finish it..... Timber Canyon! Thunderhead! Random train stuff...... Tried to get a picture of River Battle...... TT station and part of Blazing Fury This goes right down to the Wilderness Pass area...... Fixed up some of the buildings.... Train engineer..... Uppper loop Upper loop Upper loop is just a flat piece of land..... Train station's water bucket...... Random Dollywood! The camera's/ only on first 3 cars of the trains.
mcjaco Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Actually, the engineer sits on the right. That would probably be the fireman. That's the railfan nerd in me.
kraken613 Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 ^ Yeah that's who it is I couldn't remember though!
coasterdude5 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Nice trip report. Looks like they've got a good amount of space for a new coaster!
kraken613 Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 ^ Thats the new rumor too 2010 a new launch coaster..... I hope it comes true! That will be awesome to be on the train and have a coaster right in the middle!
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Actually, the engineer sits on the right. That would probably be the fireman. That's the railfan nerd in me. Duuuuuude. More railfans! Also, what the hell is he doing with his hands? I've never seen a hand signal like that used.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 He was conducting the whistle.... He was what??
kraken613 Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 They go now they will blow the whistle for like 30 seconds+ and he went out and acted like he was conducting......
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 They go now they will blow the whistle for like 30 seconds+ and he went out and acted like he was conducting...... That is not conducting. The only thing a conductor does is make sure the train on schedule and collect tickets. Neither of which a fireman does. In fact, a fireman doesn't even have control over the whistle.
kraken613 Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 No............. Like he was conducting the whistle....... Like music...... I don't know know why he did.......
Cameron Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Nice photos.. Turns out I was able to swing by Dollywood on the 30th too, so I got to ride Mystery Mine for the first time. I will say that I wasn't really expecting much, but ended up being extremely impressed with this ride. They've done a fantastic job it's a really well themed and fun coaster. As for the "upper loop" .. Very nice to have the two ends of the park connected, but it really looks barren up there. Hopefully the big additions for the next few years will be trees Cameron.
Holtskee Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I think the open space looks beautiful now that the grass has grown in, like an old mountain farm. (Especially in that 3rd pic of the loop) Still kind of sad they cut all the trees down though. Back when I was a kid it use to feel like the train really left the park and went way out deep into the woods...not anymore. In all honesty I would rather they build something more line with the steam train ride up there rather than yet another roller coaster. Maybe they could try to recreate a bit of how Silver Dollar City use to be with a saloon or a mountain village - something of that sort. They had an online survey for something like that several years ago, like in '03 or '04. It was around the same time they did the survey that had you vote for either Mystery Mine or the Ice House coaster.
kraken613 Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 ^ Too bad I didn't know then we could have met.
