IrishBuckeye
No photos this time, since as another poster said, we've all seen a gazillion pics of Cedar Point. This was one of the best trips to CP in my life. 3rd visit of the season. Me and the GF arrived at 3:00pm, and went into soak city. She had never been in Soak City before. We spent about 2 hours and 20 minutes there. Rode Eerie Falls, Zoom Flume, as well as body slides and tube slides, and spent some time at the wave pool. Splash Zone was ok. Ate dinner, and then proceeded to the park at approximately 5:40. First ride was Magnum, which we rode twice, nearly walking on each time. We rode the "ejector seat" each time, and it was a blast. After that, we headed to Top Thrill Dragster, which we hadn't ridden yet this year. The wait was posted as 30 minutes, but ended up being something close to 45 minutes. The ride was closed 15 minutes or so, while we were in line, due to high winds at the top of the tower. We waited it out and ended up on the second row. What a rush of blood to the head! I like TTD but there is no way I could ride it more than once in a day. Whoa! Afterwards came the only low point of the day... we were both dehydrated, and seeking something to drink. I had no cash on me, just a debit card and didn't want to use an ATM. So we went to the refreshments stand underneath the sky ride, after noticing a sign that they accept VISA.... and when we finally get to the register, the Asian guy taking orders states that his register is "cash only". Well.... this kinda ticked me off, considering there was ABSOLUTELY NOONE ELSE taking orders at any of the other registers! We ended up getting a snack, and some beverages, at the Gameday Grille. Afterwards, we decided to ride blue streak, one the GF had never rode, and I hadn't rode it in years. For a ride thats 44 years old, this ride is pretty damn good! Fun, hilly ride. I'll take this over the mean streak any day. Rode it twice. We also rode corkscrew, which is lame (way too short), and Mantis, which neither one of us cared for. GF has only been coming to CP since last year, and we were always there early in the day. She had never been there at night. Made our way to the back of the park, where we rode Gemini. While walking back there, we had noticed that Maverick didn't seem to be running, as we saw no cars on the track. After finishing Gemini, the time was around 9:20, an hour and 40 mins until close. We went over to maverick to see what was going on, and they had just re-opened the queue and restarted the ride. We got in line and after waiting 20 minutes, we rode maverick in the dark. A complete blast! While in line for the maverick, we heard a guy, standing right behind us the whole time, talking on a cell phone, about how many times he's ridden maverick. Also, all the staff in the maverick queue seemed to know him real well. It was indeed the guy known as "Maverick Lance". This was ride #578 for him. The guy they talk about on the forums, and he was even featured on the OnPoint! CP Blog. It was a real honor meeting him. After Maverick, we managed to get in rides for Millennium Force and Magnum. A great trifecta of rides at night! While waiting to Millennium, we saw some on the fireworks that are launched during the "laser show". Got off magnum at 10:52, a perfect ending to a great day! The GF liked CP at night, although we both think there really needs to be more lighting in some areas. Walking around at night was kinda creepy since some areas of the park weren't very well lit. This is especially noticeable in Frontier Town. Also, it seems the lighting effects on MF aren't as bright as they used to be. Nonetheless, an excellent day! UPDATED Ride Counts: (3 Visits) Magnum - 9 Gemini - 7 Maverick - 4 MF - 3 Raptor - 3 Skyhawk - 3 Iron Dragon - 3 TTD - 1 Wicked Twister - 1 Snake River - 2 Thunder Canyon - 1 Blue Streak - 2 Mantis - 1 SuckScrew -
Robbie
Another great trip report, I do hope Maverick is opened when I go, I REALLY want to get a ride on it(havent yet). Also, try riding Corkscrew in the back, for some reason I find it quite enjoyable since you get some pretty good airtime and stuff, rough, but I like it. But yeah, great TR I am going to the point TOMORROW!!! =D
swampfox
I'm surprised you got that many rides in on a Saturday, even if it was afternoon. Is Cedar Point's attendance down this year or something? I'm going for my first time for two weekdays in about three weeks. Good TR.
yankees15
If your ever dehydrated or just need something to drink ask any concession stand for a cup of water. It's free and almost every park will give you a cup of water. Great trip by the way! I was supposed to go last week but my family's money situation prevented me . Maybe next year. Robbie
Yeah, and who told you there are enough pics of CP? I can never get enough =p I'll second that, most of the people you ask for water will give you it no problem.
