spaceace12 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 After setting up camp at Indiana Beach Resort campground, I headed to the south gate to pick up my wristbands and all that stuff. Walking in I immediately noticed that Splash Battle, Sky Ride, Falling Star, and possibly the Big Wheel (wasn’t moving so there might not have been anyone riding it) were closed. Walking further into the park, Tiger, Air Crow, and the Scrambler were also closed. A little later, the Big Wheel and Sky Ride did reopen, as did Tiger. Quite a few of the closings, as an employee later said that night, was due to staffing issues with High School Graduations. All coasters except Galaxi were running one train, which was fine with the exception of Lost coaster which had a full que and probably could have used the second train. Galaxi had two trains and no wait. Most coasters had one train wait with the exception of Cornball and Hoosier that had a two train wait for front of back seats at certain times. While on ERT for Hoosier and Cornball, I went for a front seat ride on HH at night, I went to sit down and ouch. The front seat on the white train had padding (or lack of) replaced. The replacement was not soft leather with cushioning, but hard plastic and not made for big people like the old padding was. While it didn’t happen to me, apparently, someone was waiting to ride Cornball during regular ride time and was told to sit on a train to fill it up even though the person didn’t want to ride in that certain seat. As of right now, the only saving grace that the new ownership has is that they still run the coasters, dodge em’s and double shot as before. For me, the magic is no longer there when visiting the park. On the Steel Hawg front, the date I heard is July 4th. Someone I was talking to said three weeks, but I also heard the coaster cars have not even been built yet. All the coasters (with the exception of Tiger, which I did not ride this time) were running great. Lost coaster backwards is something really interesting. On a food note, prices seemed to have risen. If you do go, a one liter bottle of water at the stand below the shoot em dark ride is 2.50, which is what 20 ouches cost at other stands. The Skyroom Restraunt brunch buffet was excellent. Don't know the cost because it was included with the GOCC event. I also got to ride a Skycoaster for the first time. What a rush, it was fun, but if I had pay full price (it was included in club event), I probably wouldn't pay 20-25 dollars for a ride. I want to ride Old Town's 300 foot Sky Coaster now. Anyway....pictures, video by Thursday. Guess they could squeze a few more things in here. Track in place, transfer track. lift hill again, less sun glare Lift hill Track on structure Footers more structure More track. Steel Hawg Structure Steel Hawg track. We were the only people in the row...guess they heard about the Big Mike Road Show and decided to find it. BTW, check out the big mike road show thread. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41995 Camp I wonder what coaster this could be. Well, here is one of a few photos from HWN, good bye Dippin Dots, hello Mini Melts. Rose picture I may end up entering in the county fair.
spaceace12 Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 more This area used to be paid parking, where paid parking is, used to be free parking. Dam Lake shot Musik Express Big Wheel, might have been closed, it didn't rotate for a whiel./ Down since opening day, lap bars gone. Closed Saturday, opened for ERT on Sunday, though nobody really did it but a few. A fun ride, but not really worth the 20-25 dollars if I have had to pay for it. Lost coaster, when we had morning ERT on Sunday, we were ascending to the station and the drive tires has water on them and we didn't make it up the hill into the station. Took 5 workers to push enough to get us up. Also Sky Ride was closed at times also. Closed Tiger, was closed when picture was taken, later reopened. For you lifthill people, here is a double shot. Cornball's First drop.
spaceace12 Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 More, but even more to come later tonight. Hi Cameron Nice Homes Closed Double Shot Galaxi Man Eating fish, I think Robb could take them, though. Galaxi Closed, but heard it was open at one point. The Schafer Queen or something. Jet Ski, I want to try one.

FLIPDUDE Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 the magic is no longer there when visiting the park. That bit almost makes me want to cry.
spaceace12 Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 It sucks, I have read quite a few trip reports that state atleast 2 coasters closed. Last year, all would be open even with no crowds. indiana beach gocc.wmv
darklingscribe Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 That is sad news. I hope my local boardwalk, SCBB, never becomes corporately owned.
