pgathriller Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 This is my first trip report. I went to Western Playland on the 1st. It was 107 degrees outside and the park was praticly empty! Western Playland is my home park and it's not the greatest one in the world but it's okay. I arrived at the park with 2 of my friends at 1:00. The damn park opens at 1:00 when it's very hot out. We went to the entrance and pay are 16.95 to get in. We were the first ones there which was really weird. The first ride of the day was the new Drop Zone. It is only 90 feet but it is still pretty cool. My friend Matthew took a ball on the ride and let it go. It ended up hitting the ride operator which was also the ride manager. He got pissed! He only gave us a warning and we rode Drop Zone 2 more times. Next it was time for the old and crappy Himalaya. I don't think Western Playland has kept good upkeep on this ride because it sucks now. It used to go backwards and have a longer ride time. There were only 6 of us on the ride and it went. It played a crappy oldie song. This ride is so boring now! After that we were already burning hot! We ended up going to Snake Mountain. There wet/dry slides and they are pretty fun. We ended up getting wet but 2 minutes later the water was dry and we were hot again. We wanted to go again but decided not too because it takes for ever to climb the stairs. We ended up going to the Tilt-A-Whirl. One thing that Western Playland does great is give a 3 minute ride time on the Tilt-A-Whirl. It was pretty cool! 8) People were strating to come to the park. It was 1:45. We decided to go on the roller coaster before everyone got in line. The coaster is a Pinfari non looping coaster. This ride is o-kay but not great. You get the best ride in the back of the train. The coaster really needs a paint job bad! After we rode the coaster 4 times we headed to the food place and got these really huge ice creams. Western Playland was saleing ice cream for $2. It comes with 3 scoops! It ended up melting as soon as we got it. Damn sun! Then we went on La Ruleta. It is a Round-Up ride and Western Playlands most intense ride. The ride operator gave us a 3 minute ride which was cool but afterwards I felt my ice cream trying to come out. Then we went to the other part of the park. We wnt on the Scrambler 2 times. That ride looks nice with it's new paint job. The ride is old and when it extends outward it shakes a lot! :o After that we went on the Paratrooper. That ride used to be fast and cool but now it feels like a kiddie ride! This is another old ride in the park. We only went on it once. The next ride was the Pharohs Fury, the most popular ride in the park. What a shame. No one was in line yet so the ride operator gave us a longer ride. The Pharoh is cool when you get a long ride but when they shorten it for the crowds it sucks! We rode it 3 times. Next we headed off to Splashdown, the log flume ride. This ride gets you wet a little bit but cools you off. We ended up getting stuck for about 5 minutes on the lift. The sun was right in our faces! I hate maintanence. After that we went to the crappy Bumper Cars. The cars are always broken, the big bar goes on your lap and it hurts your legs so much! You only get a 1:30 ride time. We ended up breaking 2 of the cars. There were only 5 people on the ride and the ride operater let us move the other cars to the side so we could have more room. Me and Matthew went to the oppisite ends and rammed each other. After that the cars wouldn't move. Then we went to the Yo-Yo. This ride is boring and it gives you a 4 minute ride time that is 4 minutes too long. The next ride went on was the best ride of the day! It was still 107 outside and we went to the Tsunami! One of my friends runs the ride and he let me and my other friends stay on the ride over and over. This ride takes you up 50 feet in a huge boat. Then you drop the 50 feet and hit the water causing it to make a 70 foot wave. Nobody stays dry on this ride! We got drenched and it felt good! We ended up going on it 14 times. While we were on the Tsunami there was a huge line of people! After riding the Tsunami so many times we went and rode the rides over and over agoin. We left at 7:00. We had a pretty good time except that it was so hot! I ended up winning a huge Care Bear for my Sister and Sonic and Knuckles for me.
