astroworldfan1 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 My mom and cousing went to SFoG around Thanks giving this year and we were waiting to ride Superman:Ultimate Flight. Then the ride broke down. After they had this very, very, very loud horn sound. What does that mean? Also when the ride breaksdown, why do the mechanics have to poke the ride (transfer track) with a long pole? And what do the series of numbers before the train dispactches mean? Like 24,5,98,1. Thanks! -Tatum
coastercrazed49 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I think when they were poking the pole at the transfer track the track might have gotten jammed or something and they were trying to un jam it. I taking a guess, but thats they only explanation I can think of.
CoasterNut17 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I am also taking a guess, but the numbers they call out are usually seat or row numbers on the train to tell if they are secure, or if someone has pinned themselves in and need to undo their harness. I know it is something with the trains.
Yankee cannonball Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 that horn sound probably serves the exact purpose you'd expect it too. It most likely tells the ride ops that the ride broke down.
Mr.Six Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 The pole could be for many things, such as flagging proxies/photoeyes, releasing harnesses in the back of the train, or bypassing proxies within the seats themselves. The numbers could mean anything. As far the horn goes it could possibly be the track area horn whenever something is resetting such as lift, ride, ESR (Emergency Stop Reset ) . Ride operators know that a ride has gone down due to errors popping up and a possible small alarm behind panel. In the future though , please use proper grammar along with a more descriptive title that accurately says what the main point of the thread is. Thanks. Thread Closed. -Mike
