Vekoma Fan Boy Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 As many of you know, I am not only a Roller Coaster enthusiast, but an avid railfan. I model HOn3 which is HO scale, (1:87 the size of the prototype), narrow gauge, 3' between the rails. (Normal track gauge in north America is 4' 8.5") And I am looking for pictures of 3' gauge locomotives and such for research for my RR. These include things like the locomotives and rolling stock for KBF's railroad, (No Galloping Geese, please...) pictures of locomotives rolling stock, and scenery along the route from the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR, and the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Reservation. (Both are vacation spots and operating railroads) And, even East Broad Top (Again, still operating as a tourist attraction) if you have any. And please, if you happen to have pictures of the locomotives running in a blizzard, show those to me, as my layout is going to be based in a 1930's winter! Any help (whether it is just verbal info or pictures!) would be awesome!
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Dunno if you'd be interested, but I did a recent PTR to Huntsville Railroad Depot. The thread is further down in this forum. You might also just search for railroad PTRs, as there are a few that might give you some ideas. Nothing I know of for 3 foot gauge, but the regular stuff would be worth a look. Hope that helps.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted January 12, 2008 Author Posted January 12, 2008 Thanks! I found a few useful things in there. And, do you think you could post that flyby of the train you mentioned in there?
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Hey thanks for the reminder. Meant to post the train footage a while back. It's a big file and I lack video editing software, however, I may take it to work with me and cut it down. I'll check my other vid clips and see if there's anything small and worthwhile to post. If it helps, will do. I'm still researching type of train and cars for a future Christmas tree train and hope to put that together in the next few months. Just haven't had much time to get to a hobby store. Ideally, if there was an HO model of Expedition Everest's Steam Donkey train, that would be awesome, but It may end up a small mine train. I kinda dig switcher steam engines, ore cars, and the logging mini-cabooses. Anyway, I'll see what I can do and drop you a note. Matter of fact, WillMontu posted a PoV of Six Flags Georgias train ride around the park. You might check that out too. It's in the Pro/Am Video Forum.
