Guest Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Im looking at Hershey, Kennywood, Lakemont, Knoebels, Waldameer, Sesame Place (dont ask), Dorney, and SFGAdv. People in the area/done this trip it would really help for some tips on what parks can be done in the same day, prices/twilight hours discounts, what rides do Qbots work for GAdv (I dont trust the SF website), etc. Its going to be sometime during summer after Farenheit, Flying Turns, and TDK open. A lot of these parks look like not-full-day parks though I do want to spend at least a full day at SFGAdv as last time I was there I didnt have much time to fully enjoy it. Also is Moreys Pier in close enough proximity of this trip to be worth visiting?
bobafett Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I'm not sure about the other parks you mentioned but as for Morey's Piers in Wildwood,NJ it can be done in one day. You could hit the beach during the day or go to one of their waterparks(there are 3 of them although one is not affiliated with Morey's piers.) The beaches are free so you don't need a beach tag and do the rides at night and do all of the piers. They have 3 piers, get a wristband and it is good for all the rides on each pier. You can walk along the boardwalk and eat some amazing things along the way to the next pier.( get a couple slices of Mack's Pizza it's the best! )Water ice, fudge, ice cream, peanuts, french fries, etc, etc. Wildwood is a great beach resort town. Besides the boardwalk and all of it attractions there are many great places to visit and places to eat too off of the boardwalk. We have a summer home down there and I love it. Oh and if you can do breakfast while you are there, go Samuel's Pancake House located at 17th and Surf Avenue for the best pancakes in the world! Just google Wildwood,NJ and you can find info about this cool little beach resort. I hope this helps you with your trip!
Guest Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Kennywood you can pull a half day on. Lakemont is a two-three hour park at most. Waldameer is a half day park. Hershey is full day. Knoebels if you are doing credits only is a half day, otherwise I would recommend a full day. Dorney can be done in about half day. Sesame Place (never been but I think its more water park then anything) SFGADv is a full day park for sure. For Kennywood, go to this website for $18 dollar tickets good for all season. www.visitkennywood.com AAA is great for some park discounts as well. That is a ton of driving for you too. Depending on where you are coming from is where you should start off at and go from there. Let me know if you need any other help with your trip planning!
larrygator Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 If you have never been there and don't have a great guide leading you around then do not try to do Kennywood in a half day. It is a park best savored at a leisurely pace to catch all the unique rides that could get overlooked (Turtle, Kangaroo, Noah's Ark, and even Garfield's Nightmare).
coolhandluke Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Wow, thank you for starting this! I'm trying to plan a small trip through Pennsylvania and SFGAdv as well (though I can't hit all the parks you hope to go to). I didn't want to start a thread as I don't know what parks I could hit yet, but your trip covers all my options! I'll be watching this thread carefully. Also, if I find anything I know to share.
cfc Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 You can hit the coasters at Dorney in a few hours (they have a cool little log ride, too), then make the fairly easy drive to Hershey. Last year, Larry and I bought our tickets for Hershey at the main gate shortly after 7:00 pm; this got us into the park for the remainder of the evening and for the entire next day.
larrygator Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 If you do the preview option at HersheyPark remember to save your parking ticket. It covers parking for the secind day.
