HD DirecTV issues with the sound

Hey guys,

 

I don't know how many of you have DirecTV HD, but I have been having sound issues with them ever since their new satellite came out. I decided to go to their website and post on their forum. It has become one of the most popular threads. I guess this is a real bad issue.

Please respond if you are having sound problems too. It is like watching a Godzilla movie.

Any channel in particular? I haven't had any issues all week, and I just scanned through some of the channels (including TBS HD, which isn't OTA here for the record) and everything was fine.

^Do you have a DirecTV DVR? I think that is where the problem is. If you have a TiVo, you might be okay. If you don't have a DVR at all, then you are probably okay.

I've had this problem too, actually. For me, either changing the channel back and forth on live TV, or pausing and rewinding on recorded stuff bring it back to sync.

Nope, I just have the HD unit. I had considered the DVR combo box but I could never get a strait answer whether or not I would need a phone line, so I just went for the HD box which I knew I could do.

I think it is with the DirecTV DVR. I have tried what you suggested Wes, but is doesn't always work. I just wish they would fix it!

 

Here was one of the replies in the thread:

 

I spoke with a DirecTV technical support person last night. She told me that this is an "industry wide" problem.

My first thought was "Well that's not good".

For 245 and 75 sync problem...Are you sure there are not two source signals? I thought channels in the 70s came from a different sat. At least they used to, because I had upgrade my dish to get signals from the 3rd satellite. In order to get the "New" HD channels, I had to upgrade my dish yet again.

Here is another update from the DirecTV forum. It sounds like it is a DirecTV DVR problem to me too.

I experimented last night. My Directv DVR recorded Boston Legal while my second Directv receiver received the same Boston Legal broadcast. The second receiver is a feed into Windows Media Center and was recorded on my PC.

The DVR had the audio sync problem. The Media Center recording did not.

 

This has got to be a Directv problem.
