EuroTre Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 During the off season of 1932 at Barneveld Springs Playland (modern Loves Park, Illinois), a 'new and innovative coaster' began construction. No one thought that it could compete with anything at Riverview Park, but when the first guests of 1933 arrived, they drew startled gasps at the sight of one of the biggest coaster to ever exist, Colossimo. Standing a record height of 147.6 feet and stretching a few feet shy of 5000 feet, it was hard not to miss Colossimo. The ride was MASSIVE, even for today's standards. Unfortunetaly, it never lived up to it's overall cost and was scrapped with the park in 1940. Today only a few footers mark where the giant once stood. Colossimo.nltrack Enjoy. One final look at the long lift. Into the brakes after a long ride. As it was one of the early monsters, however, it was designed poorly. The first hills were intense, where by the end of the ride the train limped back to the station. Lots of tunnels too. Lots of airtime. Onride of one of the giant helixes. and a long way down. It was a long way up The station hid somewhere in the white structure in this area. The massive helix. Colossimo was known for it's jaw dropping appearance.
Théo the little french Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Nice job! But lateral Gs are a bit too strong... You should be more careful (with less Gs your ride could kick ass I think).
