selfyselfy Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Hi Guys, Im heading to the USA on Sunday for a five week trip of sightseeing and coaster riding and I wanted to ask if anyone had any tips for a day at Six Flags Marine World or Paramounts Great America. We will be in San Francisco from 5th July - 11th July and will probably be heading to Great America on the Wednesday and Marine World on the Friday. The main things I was wondering are: 1) If we get there at opening where should we head first? 2) How busy do you think it will be on these days? Thanks in advance for your help.
PhishyBrewer Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 If you head to Marine World when the park opens, you might want to hit Medusa first. Trust me. Sorry Gregg & Kristi.
Coaster Palooza Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 School will be out, so I would expect both places to be pretty busy. PGA will be a little busier than Marine World. I like going up the left side of PGA first. I head straight to Top Gun (best ride in the park), then I continue to Delirium, and then to the back of the park to Psycho Mouse, Drop Zone (every side if I can), Grizzly, now around to the right side of the park, Invertigo, Demon, and Vortex. After that, hit what you want. I would go to Medusa first at Marine World to see if it is open. I would ride that first. I would go to Kong next and Cobra (if you want the credit). Next, I would head to V2, Roar and Zonga (if running). Follow the left side of the park to the back stopping at the Walrus and Shark exhibit. See the Shouka show if you want and any other show. Ride Boomerang, if you want the headache. That's about all I have. Make sure you arrive at each park by 9:30, or 9:45. SFMW's parking lot is a long walk to the front. Take the tram. You want to get there before 9:30. Have a good time.
shepp Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 To differ with the above a bit: Kong is just another crappy SLC and builds long lines early. Unless you really want the credit, I'd head quickly for Medusa first, hope it opens more or less on time, go for a front-row ride, then head over to Roar, which often runs single-train and can build long waits, then to V2. If you're into animal stuff at all, try to hit the walruses and tigers during trainer-interaction times, stop by the butterfly house, see the whale and dolphin shows, and feed the giraffes. TipZ: if you don't want to pay Six Flags prices for cruddy food, there's a cheap Chinese restaurant (Anna's Something-or-other, I believe) just down the road if you'd like to eat outside the park.
