spacemtfan Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Ever wished you could ride the old Space Mountain at Disneyland? Well until Disneyland decides to do a retro day for the ride (which is never), there's a nice video of the old Space Mountain before its 3-year refurbishment. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdQVpcYcm64 PROBLEMS WITH THE VIDEO: -Back then, Space Mountain had speakers, but there were crap and they almost never worked. Sadly, this guy got bad speakers. So, there's no music. -Despite what Robb keeps saying, the ride was somewhat rough. The camera tends to jiggle during the ride. -The vide was shot in nightvision.
IceDragon Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 It's a shame the ride was refurbed or whatever as I was a centimetre too short to go on it when I last went... However, either this Halloween or Christmas we're going back! What's changed to make it Space Mountain: Mission 2?
rollercoast4me Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 I forgot how ugly the old queue was! You are missing nothing if you hadn't gone on the older version. The only main diffrence is the music.... I like both songs. The track is new but no diffrent they made the show building darker overall it is better. The new efffects are better as well.... its a much smoother ride then it was. There is a reason it got shut down all of the sudden for the 2 and a half year refurb.... it was not safe and it was falling apart.
socalRCfan Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 I don't know why anyone would be upset Space Mountain was refurbed. The new version is so much nicer. The station looks better, the special effects are better, and it is soooo smooth. In my view, it puts the WDW version to shame.
socalMAN123 Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 The new version of the ride totally owns the old one. The music in this one totally fits the ride, and it is way smooth this time around. For those who haven't experienced it yet, you're not missing the old version. ---Brent
