BarryH Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Well, after the almighty Japan trip, I'm going to spend some time at SoCal and hit SFMM. During the week of 9/17, SFMM is only open on Friday and Saturday. I'm going to Disneyland too and fireworks are only on Friday and Saturday. SFMM is open until 6 and fireworks are at 9:25. So if I leave SFMM around 6, can I make it back to Disneyland in time for the fireworks? I'm staying at the Desert Inn across the street on Harbor Blvd. I'm renting a Prius from the Alamo office in Downtown Disney, so I suppose I can use the HOV/Carpool lane. I've encountered L.A. traffic the last time I was at SFMM and I want to try to avoid it. But if I drive from SFMM back to Disneyland, can I make it in time for the fireworks?
Meteornotes Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Maybe. I'd really suggest leaving SFMM as early as you can to be safe. And if you're by yourself, you won't be using the HOV/Carpool lane. They have a minimum number of passengers (usually 2 or 3). dt
BarryH Posted August 26, 2007 Author Posted August 26, 2007 I thought California allowed hybrid cars into the HOV lane....hmmm...I will have to check that.
socalMAN123 Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Yeah, hybrid cars in Cali are legal to go in the carpool lane, no matter how many passengers. Well, you have fun driving it, I bet you can make it, but it will probably take a decent amount of time. Leave about two and a half hours open for driving from SFMM back. Oh yeah, and the Prius is ugly as sin. ---Brent

They aren't giving out any more of those stickers. You can get the info here http://www.wikihow.com/Drive-Your-Hybrid-in-California-Carpool-Lanes
BarryH Posted August 26, 2007 Author Posted August 26, 2007 Thanks for the responses. All I really want to ride at SFMM is Tatsu. I've ridden everything else. I don't need to ride Viper or Revolution again, thank you. I think I will leave SFMM at around 5 pm. That should give me enough time to battle traffic, find a parking spot, and enter DL.
alanjonesbath Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 When we went to SFMM back in June 2005, it took us just over 2 hours to drive back to Harbour Blvd, that was leaving SFMM around 5:30pm. And from what I remember, I-5 doesn't have a HOV lane anyway.
