mrceagle Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 After Missing Quiet a few ACE events I Finally made plans to go to Lake Compounce for Ace’s Day at the Lake. We needed to get up early and get on the road. After 2.5 hours of Driving we arrived at around 11:00 am. After arriving I ran ahead and got us signed in at the booth in the Tunnel. I then hoped over to Customer service to get a parking refund. Once we were all together he handed out tickets and went in. Nearly my whole Family had come; My Parents, brother, sister in law, my niece and myself on this trip. Since my niece was 4 our first stop was Garfield’s Circuses World. My niece hoped the Motorcycles while my Brother, Sister in law and I went to Baulderdash. Boulderdash was running great. Only one train, the yellow one, operating at the start of the day. Later in the day they added the red train. The work done on the ride was a huge change even from my last trip 2 years ago. The coaster was flying offering fantastic air time and a mostly smooth ride. I can’t wait to ride the finished product next year. We headed back to the kiddie land and on our way we got in line to hit Thunder & Lighting. The ride is unbelievable. The restraints were comfortable, the thrust smooth, and plenty of air time. Getting air time while looking to the ground is a bit unnerving but also very exiting. We walked back down to kiddie land and meet up with my parents and my nice. All of us except my mom rode Garfield’s drop Zone. We then went over to the coaster. My brother and sister in law rode with my nice. It started to rain. That began a long stretch of a very exhausting day. My nice rode the caterpillar train while it rained. After a few rides it was still raining. It slowed a bit so we talked my parents into heading up to Ghost hut. I rode with my dad kicked his but. My father Rain across the park, the plan was to meet them at the gift shop and buy Ponchos. Some how he managed to go right by it and we lost him. We eventually found him at the carousel. After riding the carousel we went into the ball room to see “Rocking on Rt 66.” The show is very good. The characters didn’t make much sense. Why would the Book worm and geek of the school be going on the road trip with the cheerleader and jock? But other then that the show was reasonably long with allot of lighting. The shows finale was one of the best I have seen in any show. The weather opted to cooperate and stopped as the show did. Used the good weather to head back across the park and hit Zoomer’s Gas N Go. The ride is a Morgan electric 50’s themed car ride. It was purchased from Miracle strip in FL. The ride is really enjoyable. I rode with my nice and let her drive. The cars speed is not controlled by you but you can still steer. Along your rout you go through a covered bridge, past a water fall, a bunch of bill boards, back though the covered bridge and through a Drive in. The ride is very well themed and is one of the best landscaped areas within the park. They even take your picture. Well worth riding when you hit the park. My father, brother, sister in law and myself hoped on Zoomerang. The ride is worth hitting if there is a short wait. One of the best out there smooth and not as painful at most boomerangs. Quick load and unload time also. I then went of the Kiddie coaster with my niece. It’s an OK coaster short layout and it thoughts you around a lot. But my nice enjoyed it in al she rode it like 10 times. twice with me. Well the rain came back. We found ourselves in the gift shop getting a few ponchos. I didn’t get one shy bother I was already wet. We went back to the Caterpillar train I handed my mom a bunch of stuff to watch and opted to brave the rain and get in a few rides I was sick of standing around. We walked around the park in the poring rain and got on Wildcat. What a mistake. The ride was brutal. Very back seat, 1 circuit wait, and I was thrown around. The ride was rough and jumpy. I think when they are done with boulderdash wildcat needs some TLC. The rain had let up a bit and my brother and I opted to hope on Down Time. Always a fun ride! We rode Thunder and Lightning again. I then hoped on Enterprise. I don’t know what they did on the rehab a year back but it did allot of good. The ride was forceful and allot of fun. Well I’ll spare you the next half hour of sourcing for parents. Finally after another short rain fall we opted to hit the flume. It is a nice flume nothing amazing but it’s build up in the hill side wish is not seen to often the drop is also very steep. It was back to kiddie land for a second and off to Dinner. I snapped a bunch of pics on my way back to the picnic ground. We got to Dinner around 5:45 Dinner was very good just like last year. I had Ribs, a sausage, a hamburger, and an ice cream. It was a fantastic selection of food for everyone. They had door prizes. My niece won a teddy bear with a Lake Compounce sweater. There was Coaster Bingo which could have been a bit shorter and it was a bit annoying that 2 people won 4 of the prizes. The game would have likely been a better option for Nor Easter. We got done around 7:15 and made our way back to the park. Sky ride was closed for the day do to the weather. My mom brought my nice to the kiddie land while my father joined use on Bouldedash. We were able to get to the back car. We waited a single set and got on the yellow train. Allot of air time and a very wild ride. My father hadn’t been on the coaster in a few years. And had forgotten how the coaster was. I opted to give Thunder and Lightning another shot before the end of the night. I ended up riding with a fellow ACE member. We talk a bit after about local parks since he had traveled from central NY. Kiddie land was again the meet up spot. My niece and I rode the coaster again and she wanted to ride with me again on Zoomers. The ride is even better at night. The lighting and drive in cartoons playing at you pass through. I rode the Flying swings as my nice hit a few kiddie rides. The ride is even more relaxing at nigh. I then made it a requirement to hit Rainbow riders before the end of the night. They only let one adult ride with a child. So my father rode with my nice and then he handed her to me so I could ride. We needed to start off early so ERT was out for this trip. I took a bunch of night shots. I grabbed some soda before we left. We ran into Jerry Brick on our way out. We talked about the park. He has already placed the deposit on the new ghost hunt cars. That’s great news. Allot of the conversation was dominated by talks of my brothers wedding. Jerry was invited but wasn’t able to attend. We also talked about Story Land since he was going to be making a trip up there to look at a few things and help get some organization while the park awaits a new GM. Overall it was a good trip. There were some major down falls. The rain being one of them but it wasn’t a terrible day. I got on the new rides I wanted and there was only a couple rides I would have liked to hit but weren’t able to. But it was good to be back to the lake. I’m looking forward to going back.
dougstanton Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 I will be going there very soon. Is there anywhere that I can order discounted tickets or get coupons at places around the park?
mrceagle Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 I'm not really sure. I know that you can get a discount with your Stop and Shop card. Also AAA has discounted tickets. Not sure about local Fast food places. I hope you enjoy your trip.
Absimilliard Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Costco in Enfield, CT (near SFNE) has 25$ Lake Compounce tickets for sale if you're a member. Burger King around Hartford has discount coupons.
mrceagle Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 I figured they would but didn't want to say anything not knowing for sure.
