coastermaniac Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Is it even possible to build a 500 foot rollercoaster? We obviously proved 400 feet was no challenge, but is 500 feet? And if so, would you ride it? What kind of a coaster would you want it to be?
Screamomatic Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I read somewhere that 500 feet would be very difficult because of the weight of the structure and the space it would take up. And 400 feet wasn't that easy either... If they do however reach 500 somehow, I would want it to be a Giga Coaster even though that'd be nearly impossible.. It'd most likely be a Strata-coaster. But hight and speed don't really jump out at me anymore, it'd be a cool challenge for a designer but it'd be.. lame really. I'd prefer a Voyage over a TTD any day.
christianscoasters Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 The problem with a coaster that big is money. TTD was $25 million and it's 420 feet high. Even higher would need a longer launch pad, longer transitions, more supporting, everything is just too expensive. And who would want to buy something like that when it takes up all the space, breaks down a lot, and costs so much?
christianscoasters Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 ^Disney wouldn't even DREAM of getting a coaster like that. It can't be "plussed".
