Plans for a state-of-the-art roller coaster proposed at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom have gotten a nod of approval from the South Whitehall Planning Commission.

Park officials want to erect a 184-foot-tall coaster powered by a linear induction motor, a type of motor used in rapid-transit trains and conveyor belts as well as amusement rides. The proposed ride would propel up to 28 passengers through a series of corkscrew turns at speeds up to 70 mph.

I would be curious if this will be similar to Maverick-style from Intamin. Any comments?

Looks like its confirmed, it is Steel Venom.

The height is the near same. The train holds 28 passengers. Skyscraper is a very narrow site, and Steel Venom could easily fit in there. Launch into a corkscrewed turn? Obviously Steel Venom.

Guess its rumor confirmed, Steel Venom is going to Dorney. Now all we have to do is kick back and wait for an announcement for it to be official.

This is very interesting...

Dorney Park is the closest park to me (about 45 mins.) and while the park is nice, its small number of coasters make it less attractive when compared to the larger parks. (Six Flags, Cedar Point) Hopefully, the coaster will make a great addition to the existing coasters.

EDIT: So its Steel Venom...
