Guest Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Hey all, this will hopefully be a short TR and a review of both parks. Geauga Lake: The last time I was here was in late 2002. So it wasn't CF park yet. I did notice some changes, but nothing major. Rode X-Flight 4 times on Saturday. They were only running one train crowds were non-exsistent. We stood through a sensor break down, and we were moved to the other station. We got in the other train and it wouldn't recline. We asked the board op about an exit pass and she said "well I can call my supervisor, but I don't know how long it will take for him to get here." Now, being a CF park and my friends were at CP the day before, and got stuck on Millie's lift hill for 10 minutes got an automatic exit pass. Why wouldn't GL do this. I have no clue. That really was the only bad part of the day. On to SV. I didn't ride this time, I already had the credit, the one reason I don't like OTSR's is well some girls are big in the chest, and well THEY HURT! I don't like impulses that much anyway, so no love lost. Head Spin- well didn't have to do it thank god, those things hurt. Big Dipper- I got two rides on it. The first ride was extremely rough, and unbearable. The second ride in the front seat was amazing. Smooth as glass, and MEGA airtime. I recommend anywhere in the front for this ride. The Dominator- Got 4 rides all day. This was the only 2 train op, though it wasn't needed. Great ride. Felt a little vibration towards the back, but nothing horrible. Thunderhawk- Well this got a new paint job, I think it looks like crap. I don't like the color scheme period, and well it's an SLC. Can we say head banging? It wasn't too bad, but damn those things just SUCK. RWB- I call this ride Wolf KaBobs. Great re-tracking for this ride. The beginning and the end were decent. But CF and SF has taken 3 years to re-track this thing. They still have to do the middle, which I call wash-board central. This could be a semi-decent ride when it's finally finished. Villain- Got about 6 rides in. The best ride was the back seat and HOLY CRAP mega airtime, pullovers, and mooshing galore! It was smooth and surprising. I love the Villain in the back. Normally, I can't ride most coasters in the back (back problems) but this one I will make the exception for. For the best time of the day was the dodgem's. These bumper cars were running awesome. Bill and I got the best head on of the day. We hit each other so hard that people from the queue said "WHOA!!" We definetly got some hand slaps on the way out. All in all great day at GL, now on to KW. Jack Rabbit- Mega airtime on the double down. They put in seatbelts, but weren't making you tighten them. Wouldn't make a difference, your butt still flies out of the seat regardless. Got a great ride in the back seat. Racer- Got some mega handslapping and had two great races. They were really close both times. This ride also got seatbelts, and they can fit any body type. Theay are actually long enough, thank god for that! Thunderbolt- This was running great this year. Barely any trims that I have noticed and the mooshing was great for everyone. Got rides in the back and the front. Both great rides. Phantom's Revenge- Got the first train of the day out in the second seat. What a damn good ride! This ride gives so much air, I have my butt not touching the seat half of the ride. I love it, and it's my number one. Exterminator- This ride is different every time, so it's hard to rank it. We didn't get it spinning very much, but still a very disorienting ride regardless. This ride was the most forceless I have been on. Oh well, next time for sure. Had to have our patch fries with cheese and gravy. It may be crazy but it's SOOOOOOOOOOO good. We rode everything even the top spin, with the water running. NEVER again will I ride that with the water running. YUCK. Water in the face is not ideal to anyone. My friends were having a field day with us for that one. Crowds were decent and every coaster was running 2 trains. Lines were kept down, and we had an awesome time. I can't wait to do it again! By the way, great to meet you CoasterCrazy! I hope you had fun on your trip, I look forward to your TR when you get home! Katie, who thanks you for reading! Here are my pics to take a look at! http://photobucket.com/albums/y259/CoastinKatie/
coaster1 Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Question, is the holding brake on Steel Venom operating now .. last September they were waiting on parts so people I was with didn't get to experience the holding brake.

Yes they did have the holding brake on SV this past Saturday. I got to experience it in 2002. But, they were holding for a good two seconds before the break let go. Katie
PhishyBrewer Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Don't hold your breathe when getting an "EXIT PASS" Cedar Fair top dogs hold onto those things tight and give them to supervisors when they feel they have to end all the bitch'n. Peggy Berch at CP is a real stickler for passing them out. If you get one, hell froze over. And GL, Bill Spehn will give you one for a wax paper cup of Busch and some soak city girl lifeqaurds. Man I'm evil when I don't sleep right after work.
FlyingScooter Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Looks like GL is going to have another low attendance year. I've been by the park several times this season and a ton of times last season and i've never seen the park more than 1/4 full.
coasterdude5 Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 I couldn't tell by the pictures but at GL, what rides were repainted if any? (Great TR)
Guest Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 The only thing that was re-painted was Thunderhawk (SLC) (otherwise known as Serial Thriller) Used to be the standard six flags color of teal and red. Now it is a hideous Golden rod and canary (aka orange and yellow). I thought it was a horrible choice, but it isn't my park. I do wish they would re-paint Steel Venom. This ride will always look like Superman in the red and blue. The sign itself is black and purple. The color scheme would look great on the ride IMO. Katie
