rileybrands Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 How do you make a good helix on No Limits? I haven't had it for very long, and all of mine are very, verrrryyy jerky and rough. They don't have a continuous downslope or upslope like i want them to.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 You need to build it around a circular object (see download link, I've also included a straight object for building straight section of track on unusual angles), use the CTRL+G function on the segs, and then, if you are not satisfied send it through Buster's track smoother (third down under legacy software) StrtCircle.3DS.zip Goes in C:/*your windows account name*/program files/NoLimits Coasters v1.6/objects
Thrillrider15 Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Aah. To make a neat helix, use No Limits Elementary. Download the helix swiss army knife for a more advanced helix.
rileybrands Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 What's NO Limits Elementary and where do I get it?
Golfie Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 If you do it by hand (like I do), the helixes can turn out just great. Make a consistent turn by moving the mouse at a 45* angle (one dot up/down, one dot left/right). Once you've reached the size you want, make a vertex there and adjust the vertices so the turn is smooth. Then move to either frontal, back, or side view and move the node you just made up or down. Adjust the nodes so the turn rises at a consistent angle. Don't get frustrated - you'll need to make MANY coasters and have a bunch of practice before you become a great designer - I'm still working on it!
AlmereStars Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 well, at first you probably want the elementary, but it's way more fun to just try it out, what i do is placing 4 nodes (in a circle way) and then select it all, and press the CTRL + G buttons, most of the time it works out great
