coastakid Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Well here it goes - 5/26/07 Finally, after waiting around two weeks, it was the day. I grabbed my bags and headed out to the red car waiting for me. My friend,Ryan, his brother, and their dad were taking me to Six Flags Great Adventure for two days for the first time in around a month. We left my house around 11:30am and arrived at our hotel (Best Western, Bordentown Inn) at around 3:30pm. We took a quick half an hour swim before unpacking. We headed to the park at around 5:15pm greated by a great view of a half empty parking lot and the Great American Scream Machine speeding through its course. Omgkingdaka's dad dropped all of us off at the drop-off point and quickly sped away as we boarded the tram. The parking lot was suprisingly empty. As we arrived at the front gate we got out season passes out and went through security. We were in! We all headed for El Toro. Omgkingdaka's brother was very nervous about El Toro since he is just starting to get into 'big" roller coasters. The attendant at the entrace to El Toro said the line was around 45 minutes. He was wrong... The line was stretching all the way back to the 60 minute mark sign. Although it was, we sped through the line in around 15 minutes. Great job El Toro crew! Once we got into the station, we waited around 2 trains for back row. It was Omgkingda's brother and I in the back row, with Omgkingdaka right infront of us. What a blast. Incredible airtime as usual, but i got hit in the face with sand on the first drop? Well, that was the only let down. The ride was a blast! 9/10 because of the stupid dust or sand err...whatever it was. After El Toro, we all headed towards Medusa. The line was only in the station so we decided that the front would be the best choice. I never remembered Medusa being this much fun! I enjoyed it almost too much... The cobra roll whipped my head maybe once, but it was still a lot of fun. 7/10 Since we were all hungry, our plan was to eat at Best of The West, then head onto the Log Flume to cool down since we incredibly hot. We all had the chicken strips which were pretty decent. We sat on the patio close to the Log Flume so that as we ate, we could watch the histericle reactions of parents, bringing young children on the ride. As we were almost done, we realized that the Log Flume had stopped going, and that El Toro had not run in a while. We threw our platters out and started for the Boardwalk. As we were going, we heard the dissapointing announcement that many of the park's rides were going to be closed due to oncoming weather. We spent around 30 minutes playing games in one of the arcade until the rides started operating again. We agreed to all go on Nitro. We walked all the way across the park to it. Since we were there and the line wasn't long, we waited for front row. The ride operators weren't doing an "amazing" job, but dispatches were decent. We waited around 20 minutes total for front row. As we crested the first airtime hill, we began getting pelted with little rain drops. The rain drops continued till around the MCBR where they went away. There wasn't much airtime, although the ride was very fast and fun. A great ride overall. 7/10 After Nitro, Ryan's brother comes up with the brilliant idea to go on the Congo Rapids. There was no wait, and we got paired up with some crazy little kids, and some teenage girls. As we were heading out of the station the first thing out of one of the girl's mouths was..."This water smells like butt." I totally agreed with her and laughed at it. I got decently wet. My pants were soaking, and my shirt was sticking to me, but nothing unbarable. 5/10 On the way over to the other side of the park, we stopped at Batman: The Ride. We walked directly onto the 3rd row from the back. It was now around 9pm. The ride was the closest thing to being in a blender. It was incredibly disorienting, although smooth. We all had headaches after. 8/10 becuase it was totally insane.] We decided to walk over to Superman: Ultimate Flight although the line was around 45 minutes, so we decided to skip it. Ryan and I headed for Kingda Ka even though his brother chickened out. The line wasn't long at all to get into the station. We waited around 10 minutes before actually going in the station. It was going to be my first time departing from the left side of the station. We qued up for the front of schoolbus. Then something happened.... Blueberry Muffin launched just like normal, but orange wouldn't move up to go into launching position. Blueberry was now on our side of the station with orange right infront sice they pulled it back into the station. They just loaded guests again like nothing had happened. After around two rides, it was Ryan's first time in the front row. This was my 4th time front row so of course, I wasn't as nervous as him. We pulled out of the station watching orange launch infront of us. Ryan's brother laughed at us as we were sitting, soon to be moved up into launching position. It was around 10:30 now and pitch black. The train infront of us cleared the tower, but we never moved. After around 5 minutes of sitting, they made an announcement that they had to reset something or other. We moved BACKWARDS back into the front, left part of the station. With the ride operators rechecking our bars, they let the right side go. I did not think this was fair at all. Our bars were checked, "All Clear!". We pulled out to the launch track, stopped shortly as the breaks dropped infront of us and we rolled back a few inches. We zoomed off faster than I remembered before smashing through a cloud of water at the end of the launch track, which stung quite a bit. Up and over the tower we went, and hten over the camel hump were we got more airtime than my previous rides. The ride was a blast. I absoulutely loved it (and so did ryan). 10/10 becuase it was the most fun I had all that day. We headed out of the park an caught the tram to bring us back to the pick-up spot. May 26th was so far my best GADV trip EVER! When we got back to the hotel, I took a shower and went to sleep to prepare me for what lied ahead the next day. 5/26 El Toro - 1 Medusa - 1 Nitro - 1 Congo River Rapids - 1 Batman: The Ride - 1 Kingda Ka (Front Row) - 1 Overall - 6 5/27/07 We all woke up early so that we could take showers and get breakfast before leaving for the park. I had a waffle, cereal, orange juice, and yogurt for breakfast. It was yummy (: We left for the park around 10:15am. As we approached the exit, we were greated by a line of cars extending around a mile down the highway. We just got in line and waited. We didn't get into the park till around 11:15am. Once we got into the park, it really did not seem that crowded. We got a flashpass anyways. It was Ryan (omgkingdaka) his brother, his dad, and I. We headed straight for El Toro. We scanned it and went towards Rolling Thunder since it was right there. When we were in the station, I called Kingdakalover (Ally) and her friends, Christine and Kira (sp?). They went on the right side. I rode with Ryan front row, on the right side. The ride was fairly smooth and we all enjoyed it. Ryan's Brother and dad went right behind us. They also liked it. Ally's "possy" and us switched sides since there was no wait and raced. It was the best ride I have ever had on Rolling Thunder. Christine and I were screaming at eachother on the way up the lift (: Both rides 7/10 After that, it was time for us to go on El Toro. While waiting, El Toro got stuck before the lift. they did a test run when... it got stuck again. They tested it a few more times, and we were on. It was Ryan's brother and I in the back row again with Ryan just infront of us. The ride was the same as before, except I did not get nailed in the face with sand! 10/10 becuase El Toro owns. After that, we headed towards Medusa again, this time with Ryan's Dad. We got 2nd row. They were running 3 trains. It was walk on. The ride was smooth and all, but it was just a normal Medusa ride, nothing special... 7/10 ehh After Medusa, we scanned the Log Flume since it looked as if the line was humungous. We scanned it, and it gave us a 1 minute wait! We just went up to the "Enter Here" sign, and walked on. The Log Flume was long, and very enjoyable. We got nailed by 3 cannons and were soaking. 8/10 becuase it was a great way to cool off with zero wait. Ryan's Dad wanted to go on the Runaway Mine Train, so we decided to wait. It was the longest wait of the day approaching 30 minutes. The ride was not worth it at all! Although we got front row, it was incredibly jerky and not enjoyable. Never again! 2/10 We decided to walk over to Kingda Ka for Ryan's and my sake. It gave us a two hour wait, while the line was only a little under an hour. We walked over to Papa Johns for some lunch. We all had the chicken tenders. I loved them, and found the fries to be very good! After lunch, we decided waiting for the Kingda Ka reservation was ridiculous. We cancelled the reservation and I called Ally and her friends to see if they wanted to come wait on line for Kingda Ka with Ryan and I. They agreed and we waited around 45 minutes. While on line, Dj Scott handed out water, which I thought was very kind We all got water since we were all very hot and continued waiting. When we got near the lockers, Christine ripped her cup and screamed, "MY WATER BROKE!" I found that very funny and we joked around about it the whole rest of the time we were in line. Christine, Ryan, and I all waited for front row of blueberry while kingdakalover and Kira went 2nd row before us. After Ryan and Chrisitine were strapped in, someone bled on the train infront, so there was a 10 minute delay. They went on and Christine absolutely loved it! I was next and I sat with someone I didn't know. The ride was great and I enjoyed it a alot, but not as much as the first ride the day before. 9/10 After that, Ryan and I met up with his brother. Ryan and I scanned Batman so that after Nitro, we would be able to just walk right on Batman. We got front row on Nitro with some crazy guy. He kept exclaiming "THIS IS MY WHIP", and made us fake shoot all the people in line. Although it was very odd, it was a lot of fun! It was not very intense, but it was sure fun! 8/10! After getting off Nitro, Ryan and I had to sprint to Batman: The Ride since our flashpass only had one minute left to get to the ride. We got the 2nd to last row. The ride was incredibly intense, but rough. I did not enjoy it very much and it gave me a headache. 5/10 We went to scan Nitro again and realized that our flashpass was beeping becuase it had run outr of power. We got it scanned although the battery just made it. Ryan's brother and I ran to the flashpass building and got a new charged one and headed to scan El Toro again. We scanned El Toro and headed back to Nitro. We got back row this time. It was dark now. The ride was very intense and we got a lot of airtime. Nothing comparable to El Toro, but very good airtime for Nitro. The bunny hills at the end were a lot of fun and produced the most airtime I have ever experienced on Nitro. Nitro was incredible 10/10! the only downside is that now, I had a severe stomach ache. After this, we did the dumbest thing ever. We decided to take two rides on the Movietown Water Effect. There was no line at all. After our 2nd ride, we got off and Ryan and I stood on the bridge for two soakings. After this, it was uncomfortable to even walk and I still had a stomach ache. 8/10 becuase we're dumb and it was fun. Our El Toro reservation was coming up, so we headed over to the other side of the park. We walked right into the station. I could see lightning lighting up the sky, although nobody did anything. We walked on a middle row of El Toro and we were off. The middle is no where near as intense as the back. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't very intense and luckily my stomach ache was gone...for now 7/10 We decided to eat at La Cocina. I loved it! I got the Steak Fajitas and loved every bit of them. The wind was picking up.... a lot. All the coasters and outdoor rides were closed. We finished eating and sat under an awning near Rolling Thunder for around 10 minutes before treking to Spongebob. There was no-one there. There was maybe 10 other people in the stadium. the ride was very entertaining. We were going to go on again, but we decided to run to Skull Mountain to see if it was open. It wasn't. Spongbob - 7/10 On the way out at around 10:45, we saw the Music Express running. We caught 3 consecutive rides on it. They were the best Music Express rides ever! The first ride we sat in our own cars and had the whole ride to ourselves. The 2nd and 3rd rides we sat together and smooshed Ryan. There was a new couple on the ride and we screamed the entire ride. It was amazing. After that, we took 3 quick spins on the Autobahn before it started downpouring! The wind was incredible. We sprinted out of the park and caught a bus that brought us near our car. May 27th is officially the best Six Flags Great Adventure day EVER! 5/27 El Toro - 2 Kingda Ka - 1 Medusa - 3 Nitro - 2 Batman: The Ride - 1 Music Express - 3 Autobahn - 3 Movie Town Water Effect - 2 Rolling Thunder (right) - 1 Rolling Thunder (left) - 1 Runaway Mine Train - 1 Overall - 20 Bus Ride, Slow Shudder Speed Bus Ride, Boardwalk and stuff Kingda Ka Sorry for the bad quality, GADV 5/26 - 5/27 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kN8IxWJHY4 Comments Welcomed!
FeelTheFORCE Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Great TR! I have a few questions if you don't mind, I will be posting a thread asking them and some more when it gets closer, but I just want your input also. That is the hotel I'm staying in when I go in late June for the very first time. How is the hotel? How far is it from the park? Will I be able to ride all the major coasters in one day? I think I will, because I got everything at SFMM in one day, including X twice, Tatsu twice, and Deja Vu...same time of year (late June) and no flash passes. Was the Batman side of Chiller open? If not, when does it open? Thanks, I appreciate it.
coastakid Posted May 29, 2007 Author Posted May 29, 2007 The hotel is decent. The pool is nice and the rooms are nice. I didn't like the shower although... the employees are teenagers and some were rude. The complimentary breakfast had a great variety of food though! The hotel is around 30 minutes from the park. I had a flash pass on the 2nd day. if you don'y go on a weekend, you will be able to get on all the coasters weather permitting (Kingda Ka and El Toro). Batman: The Chiller isn't open and the opening date is unknown at this time.
FeelTheFORCE Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 ^ Thanks. Yeah, we are leaving 3 days to go, either Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, we are going to see how the weather is. I also want to go to Dorney Park, but that's not 100% certain yet because it's 2 hours away. Great to hear the hotel has a good selection of food in the free breakfast!
